For example, you'll learn whether a particular television can use infrared, RF, RS-232 or some other control method, how long it takes to power on and switch inputs, if discrete IR codes are available, as well as other useful tips, tricks and commands to make integrating this device into a universal remote control or other control system faster and more reliable.

Hey everyone, thanks for keeping this Wiki updated! It's super helpful. Seeing the discrete codes listed is great. I'm wondering if anyone has experience really pushing the limits of the RS-232 control? Sometimes I feel like I just want to kick the buddy when a device is being unresponsive, haha, but obviously, robust control protocols are the more professional solution! Especially helpful to get power and input switches working flawlessly. https://kickthebuddy.lol/
This is super helpful! Thanks for putting this info together. I've been trying to get my older Onkyo receiver integrated into my smart home setup. The TCP/IP control is exactly what I was looking for. Figuring out these command strings can be a bit frustrating though, sometimes I feel like I just want to kick the buddy and start over. Glad someone else has already done some of the hard work. I'll definitely check out that avforums link!

Models like the entry-level players include quick start and fast loading, so you spend less time waiting and more time watching movies.
