Lyndel,

I figured it out. I have a macro that is rarely used that has somehow been corrupted. The original commands have been deleted and it was trying to alias back to my home page. SNL did not like this command. I found the problem by eliminating devices one by one and running SNL after each deletion. I narrowed it down to the page and then located the bad command.

Lyndel,

I am just getting started with SNL, and have seen messages mentioning the jumpstart package. I understand it is a work in progress. Can you send a copy to [email protected]?

Thanks,

Kevin

Davis,

Correction... CCFDLL.DLL (not SNL) did not like the command. SNL has nothing to do with it. SNL uses CCFTools, specifically CCFDLL.DLL, to decompile your CCF into a CSF text file, add some devices, then recompile the CSF file into a CCF. Hence, if you can decompile/recompile your CCF using CCFTools, you should have no problems with SNL.

For future reference, you can most likely find the problem by using CCFTools to decompile to a CSF then attempt to recompile to a new CCF. If an error is reported, open the CSF file using Notepad and go to the offending line number. Once there, the text is structured such that you should be able to find the offensive button/panel/device or macrogroup rather quickly.

Lyndel,
I originally assisted Leo with some minor coding changes when SNL was a baby some years ago. He was even kind enough to thank and credit me on his webpage. Anyhow, I have been using snl without a hitch for a couple years now but I find that my eyes are straining to read the text on my pronto ts-1000. Not a new problem(I discovered that we could use a larger font than Leo had originally implemented in SNL and we offered that option in one of the releases). Anyhow, there is only so much you can do with font size. Between the font size, contrast and old screen on my pronto, I am currently only using the pronto for snl and have moved to modern hard buttoned remotes(mx8000 and st659) for the rest of my theater.
However I would like to buy a new pronto mainly for SNL. Which model would you suggest is the easiest to read. Will I get enough good contrast out of the 2000(if I can find one) or do I need to spend $$$ on a 6000. I believe that snl is not functional yet with the 3000 or 7000 models.
If I can see it well enough and there are enough hard buttons, I might even move back to the pronto for my entire HT.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Steve Baime

You will find that color remotes give the best contrast.

There's also another option. The 2.0.0.4 version of SNL available in the Files section supports a large button layout where each button is 21 pixels high. This allows the 12 point font to be used. You might check out 2.0.0.4 before investing in another remote.

Version 2.0.0.6 will be released here soon. This version can use a Marantz RC9200 CCF as input and generate lists in the 240x253 screen size required on the TSU3000/7000. Users of these remotes could generate their List CCFs separately and then import the CCF into PENG or PPENG and merge with their current CCF. The only thing remaining to do is to hook up the jumps.

Try the large button layout, see if you like it. It's a bit different to what you are used to seeing. However, I use it myself to generate a TV Channels List.

Thanks. I am using 2.0.0.4 version and have played around with the fonts.etc. It has helped but it still doesnt feel right. Perhaps a 6000 or 7000 is in my future. I know I will have fun with it anyway.
Thanks

Any chance of being able to specify larger layouts e.g. 240x320. I'm hoping to be able to use SNL with NetRemote which lets you use the full size of a PocketPC screen (even larger on a Tablet PC).

Rob,

Donations these days for SNL have been few and far between.

New features take precious time away from my family. At this point, 2.0.0.6 will most likely be the last release before a 3000/7000 release hits the stands. I'd be willing to work on a custom version for Net Remote, but not for peanuts.

Because SNL currently uses CCFTools' CCFDLL.DLL, I suspect that there may be a limit in the code that would prevent us from using such coordinates. I admit I've never tried. However, what do I do with HardKey mappings, etc? I don't own a PDA and have never used NetRemote. Can you clue me in offline via email as to some of the available options?

Lyndel

Lyndel or anyone else,

One last stupid question b4 I pull the trigger on a new remote. Would you buy a 6000 which works with SNL now or buy a 7000 and anticipate better future SNL integration and own a newer model pronto? I still have my ts-1000 to use in the meanwhile.
Thanks in advance. These things are expensive.

I just bought a HomeTheater-mx-800 and ir blaster for my upsatirs HT. I love the thing more than my pronto, but I dont have a cd-carousel to support with it. Any other alternatives?

Thanks in advance,
baimo

Bai,

With the upcoming version 2.0.0.6 using the 'Migration Mode' support, you can use an RC9200 input CCF with barebones IR codes. Run SNL, generate an output RC9200 CCF with the input devices plus your lists. You can then import that CCF into PPENG, save it, then merge it into your PCF. This is indeed a manual process but one that I am currently following myself.

It's really up to you. The biggest thing you will lose moving to the 7000 is mouse mode. FYI, mouse mode is useless unless you have a Philips mouse/keyboard combo.

Lyndel,
Thanks. I am not using the philips mouse nor do I intend to. I am not sure what PPENG is, but I assume it is some software that I will need to use in the conversion processs. No big deal. I write and manage software creation for a living.
You helped me lean toward the 7000. I really did not want to buy an expensive remote that is already out of production.
I will buy a 7000 in the next week or two along with the IR extender.
Perhaps when I get into it, I will even be able to contribute a little to the code. If not, I will definitely contribute a few $$$ to you for your effort.

Thanks again,
baimo

Bai,

PPENG is ProntoPro Edit Next Generation, the 7000 software. Just make sure you install the software BEFORE connecting the USB cable from the docking station or the remote to your computer. This ensures that drivers are installed properly. Also, I recommend WinXP or 2000 due to the way that the software uses graphic objects and window handles. With large configuration files, you will definitely run low on system memory in WIN98SE (not related to size of RAM but due to the 64K USER and GDI heaps on WIN95/95B/98/98SE).
