I have an RC5000i which @ some point i used an old version of SNL to play around with and see how it worked. Well i want to play with it some more but all i have is the CCF file. Can i get my list back off of that or am i screwed?

Avintegrator,

Your question was previously answered elsewhere in this thread. In short, sorry to say that you are screwed.

I've been using snl for sometime now and once i got my head around it i've not had any problems. but a couple of weeks ago i messed up my pc big time and had to reformat the hard drive. now i have reinstalled snl i just cannot get it set up again.
I'm using a ru940 and a sony multichanger. I've got as far as selecting the cd player and selecting the ccf file ive uploaded from the remote, but there isn't a list in there once i have done all this. am i missing something out? i keep coming back and trying to figure it out but i'm now stuck.
any help would be much appreciated.
thanks
Rich

Rich,

Lists are stored in a file named SN_Library.xml. Players are stored in a file named SN_Devices.xml.

Both of these files exist in a folder named SN_Config.

This folder is created in the same folder where the SuperNudelist.exe program is run.

As it appears that you reformatted your hard drive, you are fresh out of luck unless you have back copies of these files.

If you don't, you will have to recreate your players and any lists you had before.

Sorry for your unfortunate luck. Hope you find backups of the above files.

Lyndel

I'm new at SNL. I get the following errors when I try to execute:

Icon compression OFF.
Compiling CSF...
Opening script "C:\Program Files\Marantz\CCF Downloads\Superlist\SN_Temp\SuperNudelist.csf" for reading
Line 47 : Error E0006 : "Invalid Color" Pass 0 : "BackColor(245)"
"C:\Program Files\Marantz\CCF Downloads\Superlist\SN_Temp\SuperNudelist.csf" is not a valid CSF file.

Thanks in advance.

Pete,

Hope you like the program.

The problem is not an SNL issue. It was caused by use of Tonto to edit your CCF.

This question has been answered many, many times in this thread and others.

thanks for the help, sorry if i'm being a bit thick but i have all the lists stored in my pronto, once i've reconfigured snl to my cd player, can't i just upload my old config from my remote into snl? surely i won't have to write out all my cd's again will i?
I've just found an old floppy with my config on from march last year, but i have no idea what discs i've added from then. as they are still in my pronto, there must be something i can do?

No, upload is not possible. Start from your older file and begin rekeying new data.

Sorry,
Lyndel

Backup of SNL Configuration Data is the User's Responsibility

Let's face it, hard disk failures will occur. To prevent any loss of data from SNL, all that is required is a simple copy of SN_Devices.XML, SN_Library.XML, your input CCF, as well as any specific Override Images that you may have.

If you have backups for each of the above items, you should be back up and running in no time.

There is no way to reverse-engineer a CCF into SN_Devices.XML and SN_Library.xml.

Stop and think for a second as to how SNL could figure out that "Bob Wills and the ..." was actually "Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys".

It would be absolutely impossible as once a list is generated in CCF and downloaded, entries may be truncated. It's not the Pronto that truncates, it is SNL that has to perform this function.

Also, from the CCF, how can one generate ArtistSort as well as ArtistShortName from the single above entry. It's just not possible.

The need to save SN_Library.XML and SN_Devices.XML has been a limitation of SNL all along.

Remember that SuperNudelist does not have a way to reverse engineer a CCF into the required configuration files. Don't even ask for that one.

as well as the following text on this page from Leo's site.

Backups: To create backup copies of your CD lists use the export-to-XML feature or simply copy the SN_Config directory to a safe place. CD lists in CCF files output by Super-Nudelist cannot be imported; you must keep your configuration safe.

thanks Lyndel,
I'm not the slightest bit computer literate, and i don't understand how all this stuff works, i just thought as everything was in the pronto, that it could still be uploaded. oh well, you know what i'll be doing on the next rainy weekend!!

Best of luck on the rekey.

FYI, this happened to me early in the game. As a result, I make frequent backups of all my config data.

Lyndel, I am dreaming of changing from my RC9200 to a HTM MX3000, which I understand can use Pronto CCFs. I can't live without using SNL, and am wondering whether SNL might work directly with the MX3000 or whether I will have to make a CCF first and then import this into the MX3000?

Christopher,

Good to hear from you.

From what I've heard, the MX3000's native file is not XML or text based. If that's the case, SNL will not work directly with the native file as it is binary and would require a compile/decompile tool such as is used with SNL for CCFs (CCFDLL.DLL).

Also, the MX3000 screen is 320x240 and not 240x320. With this width change from 240, there would be major rework needed of SNL as the background and header images as well as coordinates for all things on the screen are based on a 240 pixel width.

As of now, I have no immediate plans to support the MX3000. I'm completing some things at work and then will be starting a newer version of SNL that will support the TSU3000/TSU7000 natively.

Hmmm, maybe HTM should pay Lyndel to make SNL work on MX-3000 so people can switch? I don't think I will buy a remote that I can't use my SNL on.....

Beta Version of VB Script to directly import a DVD Profiler XML export file into SNL now available via email. Please email me if you would like to test.

Thanks,
