There is a huge difference in a DYI guy and a cheap bastard
whos trying to get something for free.

Precisely! There are a few here who don't seem to appreciate that. The real DIY guy isn't trying get something for free....he really does just want to play with his toys.

couldn't have put it better myself, My SL is now out of warrenty and has a lockup issue, my local dealer said he can sell me the s70 for £750 and nevo themselves just tell me to ring a dealer. Im not spending that kind of money every 2 years on a remote. I can see me getting a harmony or something like.

Day 89 Update – SOME good news.

As of yesterday, I now have a Q50 in my possession! I’ll hold off on the details because I want to keep this posting positive.

Although more than one Nevo dealer offered help, Tom Wilkinson, owner of Xpress Home Theaters in Austin, Texas is the nearby dealer who latched on to my problem and wouldn’t let go until it was resolved. THANKS TOM!

As was expected, all communications between UEI and me had to go through Tom. I suspect Tom added his opinions and influence as well. Whatever he did worked.

As soon as things settle down a bit, I’ll make a final post with some of the details of this ordeal.

Russ

BTW, never heard another word from Matt Simrell.

thats great news . .

i guess it all comes down to the dealer.

nevo should def be on top of poor rated dealers though,
and ebay sales.

I don't know, Dave. If you were working behind the scenes, without my knowledge, then I'd be glad to thank you.

I didn't see any results from your first attempt and the next time I ask for your help you didn't respond. So, I figured you had backed out.

If I'm wrong, you have my apology,
Russ

i would not sell to this guy either in this maner. why
would i want to sell a product. then have to take my time
for free and not get paid to walk him thru programming
when he cant figure it out. there is a reason its dealer
only.

Ceied, you are the reason why Im a DYI guy. You rely on people to pay through the nose every time they need their system tweaked. I think some CI's fear easy remotes and intelligent buyers because it threatens their income.

Im not here to waste your time and money. I don’t expect anything for free, just don’t stand in my way because you want to make more money off me. If Im not happy with the programming, its my fault. If I want to try something new or add a command, I do it myself for free.

Day 89 + 8 Update.

Hopefully, this is my last post on this subject. I said in a previous post that I would follow up with details of how the replacement of my stolen remote came about.

To briefly sum-up previous posts, I purchased a Q50 & Connect through an Authorized Dealer. Three months later, the Q50 broke and I returned it to dealer for replacement. The dealer disappeared with my remote in his possession.

However, I’ve decided to skip the details for fear that anything I say might reflect negatively on the dealer who worked so hard to make this happen.

I will say that I’m very unhappy with UEI and the way they handled what should have been just an unusual warranty claim. Their attitude was, at times, unbelievable! This will certainly influence my next purchase.

Thanks to all the members who offered advice and support,

Russ

Yes I too will say I am very unhapppy with UEI, and would never recommend this product to anyone. There is really no support. My dealer too will not reply to emails or answer any phone calls. For the price of this remote it is sad that you cannot find an ounce of support. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable remote for 1/10 of the price. It will last you 10 times as long and does the same thing. If UEI can't support their customers then maybe they shouldn't get anymore. Just my thoughts..

Im not choosing sides here. I am not a Nevo dealer and i could care less who buys the product but...

You bought it on ebay. What made you decide to buy it from ebay? As far as i am aware its a dealer/CI product that your not supposed to be able to buy anywhere else. Someone correct me if im wrong.

When i buy something on ebay i assume there is no service no warranty no support and 99.9% of the time thats how it is. ebay is the fleamarket of the world and everything there is buyer-beware.
