Russell-
I think you should name this guy so other potential owners can make a fully informed decision. Everybody here says "Go through an authorized dealer" if you want real service. Well, how else do we get feedback about these people? Name him.

Dave- Thanks for your offer to help but, as we discussed, there is not much you can do since the dealer has my remote and ignores my requests to return it to me.
Brodyboy- You are right. I’ve avoided identifying the dealer to be fair. Kind of a silly idea, though!
The dealer is Matt at HomeTheater101ofKC. He’s a member of this site but I don’t remember his name. He’s also a member of AVS Forum using the name Thew750.
I suppose I might have a legal case but the cost would be far more than the cost of the remote. And I’m sure Matt knows this!

Wow, that's really disappointing. I've followed that guy's posts and contributions and I thought he seemed very honest & upright and I have have passed his name along to others. Obviously, I will no longer do that. Russell, have you contacted any of his superiors at Home Theater 101 of Kansas City? His name, BTW, is Matt Simrell, and his username here is "HomeTheater101kc."

Obviously, I will no longer do that. That's exactly the impression that sucked me into this situation. I have no idea why he is acting like this. As to contacting someone else, I must be on the top of their s___-list. They do not return my phone calls and do not respond to my e-mails. Russ

Russell, Sorry we could not be of assistance. If you get the remote back, let me know. As we discussed, we have been a top dealer in the US for Nevo, since the beginning. We are on their beta team and we know all of the people at UEI and can pick up the phone as needed to get assistance, up to the VP level if needed. It really makes no difference where you purchase from just try and choose a dealer who will be there when you need help. We have been there for DIY clients for 3+ years on Nevo products and many more years for Pronto and other remotes. [email protected]

Russell - Give me a call and I may be able to help you out with a warranty exchange. I hate to see people suffer becuase their dealer is a flake. It is generally easy to get a warranty replacement. Call and give me the details 650-591-2110 [email protected]Here's a suggestion, Dave, since you can easily contact Nevo. Maybe you could find out if Matthew Simrell and/or "Home Theater 101 of Kansas City" are indeed authorized dealers. (I know Matt claims that he is.) Maybe if Russ can get this confirmed, he would have recourse through Nevo. They cannot possibly support or defend a dealer that's so derelict in providing service in their name.

DAY 46 UPDATE!
I got a PM from a nearby dealer who offered to help with my problems with Home Theater 101. He has gone above and beyond. Thanks Tom!
Tom called UEI and got the name and number of the KC distributor. The distributor gave him Simrell’s secret phone number, not to be disclosed under penalty of death. He talked with Simrell and urged him to come out of hiding (my words) and contact me. He indicated that I would be contacted soon.
That was over four days ago and GUESS WHAT? I haven’t heard a thing!
NOW, IS EVERONE READY FOR THIS?
Instead of doing the right thing and go after this rouge dealer, UEI has offered to sell me a replacement Q50 at a “special price”, just for me. HOW BIZARRE and INSULTING! I think UEI is afraid of its’ own dealers. It seems they would rather let the customer get screwed than upset one of their dealers.
I realize that my business is chump change compared with a home theater installation. However, time and again Simrell has offered his services, as a Nevo Authorized Dealer, to end-users, DIYers, or anyone who needs help. He has posted this on more than one forum. What he forgets to say is that after-the-sale support is non-existent.
It turns out that dealing with him is another story. You end up with little more than broken promise after broken promise. If you press him for some action, he goes into hiding, apparently to punish you for complaining. This is not the kind of person I want to do business with.

So the guy still has your remote? And won't at least send it back? Is there more to this story, because that just sounds bizarre...not to mention downright illegal.
If he's an authorized dealer, and others here have said warranty replacements are pretty easy with Nevo, I don't get why he isn't just doing that and getting this out of his way.

This all started back in August when I reported the problem to the dealer. We seemed to go thru a civil discussion phase, followed by a begging phase, and into a confrontational phase. That's when I reluctantly started posting on this subject. He last e-mailed me on 10/15 and there has been no communication since. I know by now I've pissed him off but I didn't go public until he had my remote for more than a month. I really have no idea why he has acted this way!

Since I'm not getting anywhere with the dealer and UEI doesn't seem interested, does anyone know how I can contact the Nevo group directly? They may be my last hope!

I have 2 s70... and 2 nc50 neither of them work. Connection fails 30% of the time. Nevo has replaced the remotes the antennas and the nc50's... Dealing with the dealer and the manufacturer. So far does not look promissing. I am awiting a response keep you all posted.

Is anyone helping you with some connectivity problem-solving?
