Don't be ridiculous, nobody bases their decision on whether to buy a condo or not based on if they're allowed to program the remote control that comes with the place.

100% Agree. And the person who suggested such nonsense is a first-grade idiot.

Maybe not, but if I were buying a house with an extensive Crestron/AMX system, I would make sure I got an uncompiled copy of the program or I am not buying it.

Just a quick note for other Mac users-I have been running the latest CCP software successfully via VMWare Fusion and Windows 7 (32 bit mode) on my Macbook Pro C2D 2.8GHz laptop.

Not sure if it's been in here anywhere else, but...

Running latest CCP in a Win7 64-bit virtual machine inside Sun VirtualBox running on a linux 64-bit host. Absolutely no issues.

I need some kind of software to program my MSC-400. Had it for 2 years now and had my laptop stolen with the Complete Control Suite. Yeah I know, no backup . . . stupid.

Can anyone spare a copy of the old MSC-400 Editor software or CCP or point me somewhere I could get it.

The only other option I see is to buy an MSC-400 from a legit source, have them give me the software, copy it, and then return the MSC-400. I think that's a pretty crappy thing to do. My other option is to never update my system again, and eventually, as my AV equipment changes, have an expensive doorstop. That is even crappier.

Any help?

So, I am another user that purchased a valid MX-850 from an authorized dealer about 5 years ago. My AD went out of business (not to mention they were located in Cincinnati and I am in Chicago now) and I finally got new equipment and need to reprogram the remote. I have the MX-850 editor software, but I don't think I have received a live update in several years and now it won't allow any more.

I just purchased a new Mitsubishi WD-65638 TV and a Pioneer VSX-1120-k receiver. I have used the Learn functionality to learn some of the buttons, but there are discrete codes that I really need to program (specific HDMI input selection, power on, power off, etc.). I can get the HEX codes from Pioneer for the receiver, but I am not sure how to get those values into the MX-850 editor. Is the best option still to use ProntoEdit and save CCF files? Can those be imported into the MX-850 editor? Does anyone have configuration files for these two devices that I might be able to borrow?

I am trying to contact local Chicago dealers, but the first few I have tried have not been overly helpful since I didn't purchase the remote from them. I am going to continue searching, but this is really becoming a pain for something that should be so easy.

Thanks,
Shane

you can use the universal browser function to enter hex codes.  if you have the codes already in hex form, then you should already have everything you need to program your new components.

I have been on the URC control room forums again and they are still not revealing the details of this dangling certification thing for their over priced IP remotes. They say "one of the things" required for certification to sell these things is their web training classes. For months there have been posts from folks who have completed the classes wondering what is next. What is the strategy here? Come out with a series of expensive ip products and erect a bureaucracy in front of them at the same time that iPad based solutions are grabbing all the headlines? Good grief Charlie Brown.

There are a series of Sales and Technical certification tests that need to be passed, along with the appropriate Network Dealer paperwork, in order to be approved as a qualified network dealer. Ask your rep or distributor if you have questions.

Will this be anything (in the end) like the "exclusive" Wave program that Xantech set up for their higher end remotes a few years back. Blah blah blah, I still just want an outdoor marine capable rf remote.

Hello everyone.
I recently purchased a new MX880i remote control from a third party and as you all know, can't get the Editor software. Of course the third party can't supply me with the software. I knew I would need the software and thought (when I first found this thread, that all I would need is the serial number) but I guess all that has changed. I'm just a regular guy who likes gadgets. I like to tinker and play with stuff...it's how I built my first computer 10 years ago.

I'm not trying to cause anyone harm or take anything away from anyone...but it would be very nice if one of you respected dealers/installers could help me out.

URC said I should try an authorized dealer to see if they'd give me a copy but I thought I'd try here first.

Thanks.

I'm in the same boat as gqhughes. I bought an MX-980 "assuming" that the online dealer was "authorized" which he wasn't. I really want to mess around with the remote and I take pride in being able to figure this kind of thing out.

If anyone could hook me up with the software, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!
