seem like whenever a new ccp version comes out, something else breaks

example volume control stopped working for ipod (psx-2 ) volume control

I wasn't aware that the PSX2 had a volume control. My understanding was it sent an analog signal to your amplifier, and that controls the volume. Maybe it's a defective iPod.

Thanks for the tip. I reported the link to the appropriate parties, and the software has now been removed by the host.

Best regards,
Dale

I prurchased my MX 980 some time ago from an Authorized Dealer, Myer Emco in the Washington DC area. They supplied me the software with no problem as I was a good customer and they knew I was competent to program the device (long time pronto buyer from them). They were a high end audio video dealer but now have succumed to the economy and gone out of business. I've been thinking of upgrading to the CCP software as I've just upgraded my receiver and DVD player. Much to my chagrin Eyer Emco is gone and URC won't help, just says get another authorized dealer. However, URC has no authorized dealers that I can find that are not installers in my area. There are several listed that were retailers but their phones are now disconnected. URC helps by saying get another dealer and when I can't they ignore me.

Does any one have any ideas on how to solve my problem.

I'm in Potomac Maryland. I was able to get the CCP software from a local installer. Thanks much to him. Also much to my happiness Myer Emco seems to be back as Myer Connect. They will still be in the Home Theater High end audio video but more on the installation side. They will sell equipment though. I hope they will remember me and still support me.

Eric,

I have a URC R50, and it was working fine until yesterday. I bought a new Samsung HDTV and replaced my Panasonic HDTV on the R50. I first tried to do this with LEARN and it wouldn't work, so then I did it using the directory, and it worked for the tests. As soon as I was done with that the R50 shut down and appeared to re-boot. It then came-up with a message "Unable to find data files. Please download using PC software." Can you help me here? I went to the Univeral Remote Control web site and all they had was the quick istall guide on the R50, which I already have.

Thanks,

Patrick

I recently purchased a condo which came with an installed A/V system. The system is controlled via a programmed MX-900 remote. I asked the vendor that installed the A/V system for the software to program the remote and they told me that "per our dealer agreement with URC, I cannot distribute their programming software."
OK, so I purchased a new condo with a brand new installed A/V system which comes with a remote but I cannot have the software to program it?
They want to charge me every time I want to add a new component to the system and have them program the remote for me...
I also tried the website that you can enter the serial key of the remote to download a non-live updatable version but it won't accept my serial. Does anyone know what else I could do? I am *not* going to buy another remote from a dealer that will give me the software since the one I have is supposedly brand NEW!

Aren't these things you look into BEFORE you buy a condo? The point is, YOU want to program the software now and every time you ever need to. You should have ironed this out before you forked your money over - maybe you could have picked up the place for a few hundred less and used the money to pay for programming and then you would have the software.

There is no way anybody is going to feel bad for you if you completely don't get why the policy is there in the first place. It seems like there are two people - the ones that are pissed and claim ignorance, or the ones who are just pissed. I don't know about others here, but I don't pay for ANYTHING in a new home unless I know a) it works b) how it's supposed to work.

My advice to you is to call URC and let them know your experience. Maybe they can help you figire out why your serial doesnt work. I dont know why you wouldnt call them in the first place about it.

I feel bad for him because his servicing dealer has outright lied to him. How can you trust them again?
