I am also in a difficult place.
Recently bought an MX-3000, which came with no software, but the seller showed the manual which said i could download the editor software from the URC site. As this is no longer the case what can i do. In the UK URC remotes are nowhere near as well known as the US and even finding a dealer is difficult, let alone one that would pass on the software. I am just a normal person with a normal job that wants the remote to work.
Bless anyone that can help.
Hindsight is a great thing, would not have bought this remote.

MX-900 owner. Setup by professional 3-4 years ago. Swapping out an old dvd player for a new blu ray player. Professional installer no longer in biz. Am I reading the forum correctly that I cannot download the programming software to update it from anywhere? I have to pay someone a couple of hundred bucks to come program it for me? What is this an installer job program?

I am also a frustrated MX 900 owner and I have read most of these posts searching for help. Reality is the professional AV installer is hired because even the most conscientious consumer must rely on the integrity of the pro when they say you need the $350 remote for your (come to find out) fairly simple 2 zone AV set up to watch TV and listen to music. 1) The dealers all tend to oversell and ....2) no matter what you all post, it is incredulous to put a consumer in the position of $200 per hour just to get programming right or swap a component.

These posts have convinced me to tell everyone...DO NOT GO WITH A UNIVERSAL REMOTE with proprietary software that will not be made available. And DO NOT put your trust into any dealer who sells it or pushes the device.

And for those of you giving advice to every consumer that they should never buy without knowing every detail....you've just explained to us it is time to flush. If it is that necessary to learn and know all the details first, it will take a while to remove the grime from the business. And you've just minimized your value. Other OEMs of remotes with 90-100% of the same capabilities needed.

I would suggest that most folk who ask nicely here for the software get what they need as there are plenty of nice folk around here who dont agree with URC's restrictive policies. :)

Btw, programming URC remotes is relatively simple for those of us who have been doing it for a while but I challenge you to program a remote for a customer and walk out knowing that you wont get a call for some fiddly little change to be made - that is the hard part, perfecting the programming from the get go.

My apologies if there is a definitive answer to this question already contained in this thread. I have searched the first few pages and the last few pages, but have not searched all 29.

I have an MX-700 purchased from a dealer about 9 years ago. Dealer is long gone. I have the MX-700 Editor Version 1.12.282 and when I have added new equipment in the past I have simply created a new device and learned all the keys from the new remote. That approach worked fine when the new device was simple like a Roku or Apple TV, but I just updated my receiver and entering all these codes seems a daunting task.

Can any kind soul out there provide an alternative solution?

If you can find a current MX850 editor, that should have new model codes.

I have a MX-950 with the software Editor which I've used and programmed for a few years. I bought a new laptop (Vista) and a desktop (Windows 7). The 950 doesn't work with either one.
I called URC with the problem and the only thing they could do for me was to do a trade-up to a MX-980 for $$$. The software isn't included of course. If this doesn't make sense to anyone else could someone please e-mail me the software?

MX-3000 updates

Am i to assume that URC does not update the MX-3000 editor software anymore? The IR database is very outdated even after i run live update.

I forgot to open the software as an administrator. Been using CCP and forgot that MX Editor has to run as an administrator to run live update successfully.
