I've had my MX-6000 for a few years now, and had been able to get CCP for it, and have found a few of my devices are not in the IR database.

I've done the live update option, but whenever I do an About in CCP, it gives me version 1.6.082.0804 copyright 2008 !!

I'm assuming that I've got a crippled version now since I did a live update ?

Why would you assume that? If, when you open CCP, it says an update is available, and you click on "Update Now", and then it restarts automatically and says "Update was Successful", then it updated to the latest version. You say that you've "... done the live update option ...", so, did what I describe above actually happen? I wouldn't worry about the date that URC copyrighted the software. I don't think they need to get a new copyright every time they do an update.

I made that assumption on the basis of a lot of posts in here, and that when I start up CCP it talks about Live update overview October, 2010, along with the copyright notice stating 2008 when you go to Help -> about ccp.
Most vendors update their copyright notice whenever they update their software, hence my concern of having old software. :)

Unfortunately the 'secret society' manner of getting stuff from URC, i.e. must be a certified installer, means a lot of us think that we might be getting shortchanged. ;)

Better put my tin foil cap back on. :) :)

I would suggest that most folk who ask nicely here for the software get what they need as there are plenty of nice folk around here who dont agree with URC's restrictive policies. :)

To any nice folk out there,

I am new to the serious remote world and just purchased an mx 880, very excited. I was less excited to find out that the software is so hard to come by. If anyone would be so kind as to email me the installer or ftp info i would greatly appreciate it, especially if its up to date or close t it. Just want to tinker and be able to switch zones from the bedroom to fall asleep to the news....

Thanks!

I have indeed. He won't budge.
Would really appreciate it if someone who had a recent version could help me out. To get it programmed and then reprogrammed while I am upgrading and adding components is a real pain, not to mention cost me more than the remote...

I would return it and re-buy from another authorized seller that will give you the software.

Wish that was an option that at this point... Just hoping there is another user out there who has been in my shoes, who has solved the problem and might want to help. Also I understand that I am new to the forums and some may not feel like extending that sort of favor, which i totally understand, but I do plan on sharing my layouts, as I want to customize them, as well as add anything else I can that is not already available here.

Hey Everyone,

I'm a new member who has spent all weekend going through various sites trying to find the Mx-3000 editor software. I purchased one 4 1/2 years ago from an individual who later disappeared. My kids broke the screen so I bought two used ones on Ebay and all I want to do is transfer the information from one remote to another. Tired of hearing the old lady complain about how expensive a paper weight I now have. Also, for something as simple as this, I don't want to spend more money on a AD. If someone can please be son kind and assist me, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks anyways. [email protected] is my email....

I'm yet another annoyed MX900 user. I live across the country from my parents, and wasn't able to install their rather simple AV system several years ago, so they went with a shop in town, and were stuck with a URC remote. I'm installing a Blu Ray player for them, and need to update the remote; I figured that would be a simple job, except now I learn URC has decided to make the product MORE difficult to use for some reason.

The installer isn't giving me access to software and wants me to fork over $100 to add the new DVD player codes. The shop and URC definitely lost a future customer, but for now I really need access to the CCP if anyone could PM a link??

I don't think they lost a customer - they never had one and probably never would have had them.
