I am looking for discrete codes for the Sanyo PLV-Z1 front projector (same as the Boxlight 1HD), particularly for power on/off and Screen settings. I need codes for the OFA/Radio Shack remotes. Can anybody help me?

AFAIK, there is no built in setup code for this Sanyo Projector. If you have a JP1 cable and capable remote then it would be fairly easy.

The last time I helped someone with a Sanyo projector, I suggested that they contact Sanyo for the IR commands and Sanyo sent him some information that I was able to decode. I would suggest that you do the same.

There was one file here that I decoded with John Fine's ccf2efc, that has been recently enhanced and is the starting plasce to turn Pronto files into commands that can be used with an OFA remote.

The Power toggle command was a two command sequence.

(NEC):48:255 EFC=018
(NEC):48.206:0 EFC=181

The rest of the commands wewe a single command all using (NEC1):48.206 (NEC1 protocol device=48 sub-device=206

OBC EFC
005 184 Input
012 052 Image
015 058 OK
028 244 Menu
029 248 Right Arrow
030 246 Left Arrow
061 024 Video*
062 022 S-VHS*
063 026 Auto*
080 101 1*
081 105 2*
086 102 3*
087 106 4*
130 191 Screen
131 195 Compo.
137 065 Auto Image
139 067 No Show
140 060 Up Arrow (Left)
141 064 Down Arrow (right)
142 062 Up Arrow (Keystone+)
143 066 Down Arrow (Keystone-)

I compared these "new" commands with the previous commands (used in a number of different Sanyo projectors) all the original command sets used (NEC1):48 (no-sub device). The Power Toggle was (NEC1):48:0 (no complex command).

Otherwise they were the same command with a different device number. The asterisk signifies a "new" command that was not present in the previous command set. The command inside the parenthesis is the old command when different. There were no discrte power commands in the pronto file where the "new" commands came from, so, I put the older ones below

(NEC1):48
160 221 (Power ON)
161 225 (Power OFF)

Given the more complex power toggle, they may use some other command first and those may or may not work even if you cange to (NEC1):48.206.

I know this is an old thread, however, I'm having problems getting my Z1 to turn on and off. I've done several searches and have tried multiple codes to no avail. All the other commands work perfectly.

Jon, I've seen several of your posts and you seem quite knowledgable about these codes so maybe you can help me out. I have a couple of questions.

Remote used: Pronto TSU3000NG

I've "learned" the power code into a button and tried it out. What I've found is that I have to "hold" the button down for 1 second to get it to recognize and turn on or off. I've read several posts about adding a "pause" into the code. I'm not sure how to do this. I've downloaded a couple of the IR configuators but I'm not familiar how to read these codes and add "pauses" I also tried to learn the code and then do the "block the ir, press the button, remove the cover" and learn only the repetion part of the code. Unfortunately my OEM remote will not allow me to do this. I get an error in pronto edit as it seems that the button does not actually have an extended press function built into it.

Discrete Codes:

I downloaded a .ccf file that has all the discrete codes listed #1-#255 for a Sanyo PJ's. How do I make codes with these? I've heard that the discrete code 160 will turn it on and 161 off. How do I add these to the pronto edit? Do I need to used one of the configuration utilities? If so, how do I do it?

I'm at a loss. I've tried some of the codes listed for other sanyo projectors as well and they still don't work. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks,

Don

Try the On and Off posted in this thread:

[Link: remotecentral.com]\-Z1|Sanyo

Those should work. If those do, I can give you any others that are missing on your projector.

Jon, Thanks for the follow-up. Unfortunately they are not working. These were some of the originals that I stumbled upon and I just re-checked them again. they are not working at all. I'm really at a loss here!! I do have a code that works, however, I need to hold the button down. I'm looking to get it so I can add it to a macro function for my Power on/off config on my power page. Here is the code.

0000 006C 003B 0001 0159 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DCF 0159 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0041

Can you possibly extend the delay or repeat so it will recognize the code without having to hold down the button? Many thanks for your input!! Don

Don,

I took a deeper look into the z1 command set. It uses NEC1:48.206

Try these commands for On and Off :

Device Code: 48.206 Function: 160
0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94
Device Code: 48.206 Function: 161
0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

The power toggle looks like a fragment. I think the real command is supposted to be two different comamnds sent once:

0000 006C 0044 0000 0156 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DB0 0156 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 00AC

If the discrete commands don't work try this to see if it works better in your macro.

Jon-

Many thanks for your help with the codes. I've tried the first two discrete options and neither of them work. I've tried a quick press of the button as well as held it down and there was no response from the PJ.

The third code works the same as the original one I posted. It didn't work when I give it a quick press, however, it does work when I hold it down. Now what? Have we exhausted all the options? Am I stuck holding down the button or can you hack it further and add a delay to the toggle code?

That's the one that begins "0000 006C 0044 0000" ?

That command should not have ANY difference between a quick press and a long press. So I think either I'm misunderstanding you, or you didn't test what you think you tested.

Am I stuck holding down the button or

We almost always fail in attempts to get the NG model Prontos to extend signals, especially On/Off signals for projectors.

Maybe there is some sequence of commands that tells the projector to turn On or Off bypassing its need for an extended signal (some have menus with confirm steps).

Jon,

The answer to your first question is yes. That is the code that is working when I press and hold the button for about .5 second longer.

Here is the procedure I've used to test all the codes. I have a button in my setup that I designated as "pwr". I open the button up in the editor and click "Add IR Code". Dialogue box opens, click on "View/Edit IR" button, highlight the code on this site that you posted, copy and paste it into the "Edit IR Code" box. Click OK, turn on my pronto that is connected to my laptop, hit the "Test IR" button and nothing. When that failed I went ahead and actually added the code to my configuration, linked the button to the IR code, and downloaded it to my Pronto. Pull the pronto off the computer and test it out. This is where I can get it to work only when I hold down the button for a bit longer. I even tried to add it to my macro and it still doesn't work.

I've tried adding pauses between the codes to see if it was sent a couple times, that would make a difference and it doesn't. In order to turn OFF the PJ, one actually gets the "Turn off the PJ?" prompt on the screen and you need to hit the power again. These commands don't work with this code either. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong, however, I feel that I'm testing it the way it's supposed to be tested.

The last point you made about the "sequence" of commands is interesting. That would make sense, however, my knowledge is lacking in that area. I do know that on the OEM supplied remote I DO NOT have to hold down the button. It recognizes it instantaneously. I'm bummed I can't get this to work!! HELP!!! LOL Thanks again.

Try these for On and Off:

0000 006C 0044 0000 0156 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DB0 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0689

0000 006C 0044 0000 0156 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DB0 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0689

Also try learning the Power toggle again from the OEM remote and post the Pronto hex. Try learning two ways and post:

1. Start the learning process in the Pronto then hit the OEM remote power button with a sharp tap.

2. Start the learning process in the Pronto then hold the OEM remote power button down for as long as the Pronto will try to learn it.

Then post both versions of the Pronto hex.

Jon-

I've tried both codes and neither of them work. Here are the two codes you requested.

Sharp Tap:

0000 006D 003B 0001 0155 00AB 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0DAB 0155 00AB 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0040

Press & Hold:

They do look different so I'm interested in seeing what you find out.

I'll concentrate on guessing at what the command on the real remote is. Try this for power toggle:

0000 006C 0044 0002 0156 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DB0 0156 00AB 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

The reason the one you learned worked is that the real commad had a byte of all Ones (0016 0040) at the end and that last partial command would apparently work if you added a number of Ones

Jon-

SUCCESS!!!! It finally works, many thanks for all your efforts in finally cracking this code (pardon the pun) I've added it to my power on/off macro's and it works perfectly. It also works solo with the power buttons as well. Thanks again and I'll let you know if I get stumped on any other codes...:)

You might try these for On and Off:

0000 006C 0044 0002 0156 00AC 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0040 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0DB0 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

There was a thread over at AVS Forum:

[Link: avsforum.com]

on this same topic that I thought I would answer here. I went back and looked at my files and the official Sanyo commands that are posted on their website.

Here is a recap of discrete and power toggle commands from Sanyo projectors based on what is in the spreadsheets at the official Sanyo site:

[Link: sanyo.com]

and what I have collected elsewhere.

From the spreadsheets for IR codes:

None of the .7” models respond to discrete power commands. All other commands use the NEC1 protocol, device =48 decimal (30H) expressed as C. The power toggle is function 0 decimal expressed as NEC1:48:0

Two of the .9” models respond to discrete power commands. On and Off are NEC1:48:160 and NEC1:48:161.. All commands use the NEC1:48. The power toggle is NEC1:48:0.

Eight of the 1.3” models respond to discrete power commands. On and Off are NEC1:48:160 and NEC1:48:161. All commands use the NEC1:48. The power toggle is NEC1:48:0.

The 1.8” models aren’t IR commands. They are a duplicate of the RS-232 commands for the same models. The Z1 and Z2 aren’t included in any of the spreadsheets.

From decoding ccf files the Z1 uses NEC1 device 48, sub-device= 206, expressed as NEC1:48.206 (this is a different device number from the ones above) for all commands EXCEPT the power toggle that is two commands together:

NEC1:48:255
NEC1:48.206:0

(This is the code that I created for Don that worked)

From another source, I believe that NEC1:48.206:0 alone will work. I think the Pronto ccf file that I decoded with the two commands is in error. It works because the projector recognizes the second, correct command.

The Z2 projector has two different IR codesets. This is apparently so you can control two projectors separately. Code 1 uses NEC1:51.0:160 and NEC1:51.0:161 for On and Off. The power toggle is NEC1:51.0:0. It uses NEC1:51.0 for the rest of the commands. Code 2 uses NEC1:51.17 rather than NEC1:51.0 for all commands.

In summary, Sanyo uses four different device and sub-device combinations:

NEC1:48 (all except the Z1 and Z2)
NEC1:48.206 Z1
NEC1:51.0 Z2 code 1
NEC1:51.17 Z2 code 2

In all cases function 160 is discrete On and 161 is Off , IF they are recognized.
In every case function 0 is the Power toggle.
A spot check revealed most of the function numbers are the same across all models, but naturally not all models respond to all functions.

Don, these are the most likely power commands for the Z1 (Toggle, On and Off, respectively):

If nothing else works, you could try the Z2 commands, but I am skeptical that they will work.
