IR2BT either runs off batteries or is powered off a USB Mini-B jack (there's a ton of wall warts that will supply this power).

The one you posted ("Tooth Fairy") looks nice because it has an IR jack.

I've received your e-mail and I'm ready to buy but I have a few questions. Is the price quoted in your e-mail US or Canadian dollars? What the shipping cost to Washington state? What is the voltage and polarity of the AC adapter?

Probably Canadian, but there's not much difference between the two currencies right now.

From his documentation...

External Power Supply:
• An external 3V to 9V DC power supply is necessary (sold separately). A 500 mA power supply is not required, 100 mA is also fine. A possible choice for this power supply:
• The external power jack is an adapter plug type A. O.D.: 2.35mm. I.D.: 0.7mm, .
The external body of the jack is the ‘Ground / negative / -’ input. The center pin is the ‘VCC / Positive / +’ input.
• Ensure proper external power supply input polarity for proper operation.

Radio Shack in the US sells the exact same power supply as shown on his links (The Source By Circuit City used to be Radio Shack in Canada until a few years ago).

Tweeterguy,

I knew that 'door jam' would be a hit, I was looking for a tool available in all houses.

Please post at [email protected] for request.

Yes I'm shipping now.

What was stopping me:
- First,, I was planning to use same flex cable as www.ps3toothfairy.com - this was B.O. EVERYWHERE when I did the design in February
- Second, 8 weeks ago PCB supplier failed to deliver good product
- Third, It took 5 weeks for Logitech to properly create my device in their database (search for IR4PS3 in Logitech database)
- Forth, It took 8 weeks to the box supplier to deliver the IR lens

All that is now behind me, I officially start the shipment of IR4PS3 Rev 2 this week, but in small quantities.

Regards,
Ben

Hello all ... I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is ayman and I developed the ps3toothfairy. Also congratulations to Ben and others who put so much time and effort (probably late night) into getting these things built. Also some thanks to the community both here (I read all the pages) and elsewhere that offered up so much encouragement.

Hi All,
Been a long time since I've posted but I have read this complete thread and purchased (waiting for US delivery) and must say WOW to Ben and his achievements.
I am truely impressed with good old DIY ingenuity he's shown here.

Looking forward to rounding out my whole house, never have to get out of my chair, wondering when a fridge/beer remote will be avaialble system.

Bill

PS; What's with all of the competition trying to hijack this thread? It seems to me they have their own...

I just talked a client out of a PS3 for BluRay due to
the lack of a good control solution.

Seriously?!?
Someone chose not to get a PS3 just because they couldn't use a universal remote with it?
Were they not planning on playing any games? I mean, you have to have the Sixaxis controller handy for games anyway, why not just use it for BD Movies until some clever person finally builds a BDIR solution?

What a strange world we live in.

there's been plenty of good IR solutions for about a year, but some clever person did invent an IR-to-bluetooth solution that gives you all 51 PS3 remote keys including the PS key and power ON/OFF:

You are quoting a post that is almost a year old?????

Yes we can control them now thanks to some devoted designers who have come up with solutions.

Our businsess (Custom Installers) is all about providing a seamless solution for the customer that is easy to operate. Back when that post was made PS3 consoles were the enemy of may installers because of the lack of control integration.

Pretty rediculous if you think about it.. Sony.. who has had discreet IR commands for over a decade didnt think it was important with thier new console/blu-ray player.

Never mind discrete IR, how about just IR? ;-)

This was all commented on when the PS3 first came out, but the ultimate irony is that even the original PSP had IR built-in. I believe they took it out of the slim, since they never ended up using it for anything, but what kind of logic dictates that the tiny PSP stuffed in kids' pockets should have IR, but the big heavy PS3 sitting across the room and under the TV in millions of living rooms playing BD movies... well, here's a perfect place we can save $0.20...
