We need more important data . The more I read, the best info coming from Swiss, German and French.

"According to the latest data of the Italian National Health Institute ISS, the average age of the positively-tested deceased in Italy is currently about 81 years. 10% of the deceased are over 90 years old. 90% of the deceased are over 70 years old.

80% of the deceased had suffered from two or more chronic diseases. 50% of the deceased had suffered from three or more chronic diseases. The chronic diseases include in particular cardiovascular problems, diabetes, respiratory problems and cancer.

Less than 1% of the deceased were healthy persons, i.e. persons without pre-existing chronic diseases. Only about 30% of the deceased are women.

The Italian Institute of Health moreover distinguishes between those who died from the coronavirus and those who died with the coronavirus. In many cases it is not yet clear whether the persons died from the virus or from their pre-existing chronic diseases or from a combination of both.

The two Italians deceased under 40 years of age (both 39 years old) were a cancer patient and a diabetes patient with additional complications. In these cases, too, the exact cause of death was not yet clear (i.e. if from the virus or from their pre-existing diseases).

The partial overloading of the hospitals is due to the general rush of patients and the increased number of patients requiring special or intensive care. In particular, the aim is to stabilize respiratory function and, in severe cases, to provide anti-viral therapies."

I suppose that observation suggests a strategy of identifying and absolutely isolating the vulnerable along with a group of caretakers, then allowing the remainder of the population to take their chances. Of course this assumes that once infected, immunity develops for a period. How long would we need to isolate the vulnerable? Hopefully the immunity period is longer than the time required to develop a vaccine. Even with a vaccine, can we inoculate enough people to control the next outbreak and what part will the anti-vax population play?

So, you think a President of ANY free country is powerful enough to contain a virus that doesn't have a vaccine and cannot be contained?  They're Presidents, not super-heroes.

Not sure exactly where I said that he was powerful enough to contain the virus. I am saying his inaction and ignorance has allowed it to spread much farther than if he actually listened to the information that was being presented to him. I mean, he had a "tremendous conversation" with China about the virus. He has the best intelligence advisors on the planet. The US has access to information and data that other countries can only dream of. He was presented facts about this epidemic well ahead of time and he completely ignored all of it so as he could get Wall Street back on track.

You Aussies couldn't contain a fire—that you could see.  We won't even talk about your struggle with mice.  So, I don't know if I'd have the same confidence you do right now.

Fires huh? Even you knew that was a stupid argument when you wrote it. Doesnt need a reply from me. Mice? No idea what you're talking about there. But I do completely understand you not having the same confidence as I do.

Here's an article from a Harvard Professor, who, in January was saying this virus CANNOT be contained.  By February, they printed his findings.

Again, never said it could be contained.

I also noticed that you didn't mention anything about the Presidents of Spain or Italy failing to contain the virus. The fatality rate in Italy is 10%, but not a peep out of you.  Looks like you just wanted to pile on a particular president.

Those countries were affected very early on in the outbreak. They had very little information regarding the effects of this virus. Yep, they were completely caught off guard and are now paying the price. Your leader was given the information. Ahead of time. Repeatedly. So yep, happy to pile it on.

You sound almost gleeful that we may have 200k cases next week.  What does that say about you?

Again, not sure where I sounded gleeful. Not even sure you understood my post actually. I do remember stating that I was actually concerned. Not gleeful.

This is what I will tell you. When there is a vaccine, the US will almost certainly be delivering it to Australia.  And we'll do it happily.

You mean to tell me its not ready yet? I thought your leader said a "Tremendous Vaccine" was going to be released shortly? OR are you talking about chloroquine? Or are you talking about the fact that its "Just going to disappear one day, like a miracle"?

I'll pray for you and yours.

Cheers. Just read that your leader thinks he will have done a "Great Job" if his inaction on this pandemic only manages to kill 100,000 of you. Slightly different tune from a few weeks ago where it was "completely under control."

I'll pray harder for you and yours.

It's a pointless lost cause to have social intercourse with the folks on here who only get their news from one source. If I bring up a single, factual "thing" I am immediately attacked and my being banned is asked for.

A case in point:

1. The orange monkey says "fifteen cases, then 5, then to zero"
2. People start to die and the number of infected leaps forward.
3. The "stable genius" then says "I've been calling it a pandemic way before anyone else was".

Really? Mr. Spray Tan knew it was a pandemic before anyone else? Then why didn't he do anything about it?

The list goes on and on, including with several Republican governors. All doing pretty much the opposite of what the scientist say they should be doing. If you point that out you're being all "political" and "partisan". So be it.

I don't believe in god, so your prayers won't help me. But this "god" of theirs seems to have a wicked sense of humor. Just Google "Liberty University" over the next few weeks and see how many of those lemmings die.

Trump initiates a Travel Ban Jan31st and Joe Biden calls him Xenophobic and Racist.
Nancy Pelosi does a tour in SF in China town welcoming people to come almost a full month later on Feb24th.
Feb 9th, NYC health commissioner Oxiris Barbot was out in full force getting people to socialize for the chinese new year. A week later she was still at it.
Trump is as good as his advisers. This is not his wheel house. Criticisms are plentiful and some warranted, but also attack his advisers. What is the excuse for the NYC health commissioner who should know better? Mark Levine was also showing his support for socializing. And you wonder why these areas are hotspots?
March 2nd , Bill deBlasio is out encouraging people to get out on the town, eat and watch a film , and now he is levying fines $500 less than a month later if you go outside without warrant.
Feb,5th good old Chuck Schummer stands up and says "the premature travel ban to and from China by the current Administration is just an excuse to further his ongoing war against immigrants".
Feb, 24th he says " We've seen no sign that that president Trump has any plan or urgency to deal with the spread of the coronavirus. We need real leadership and we need it fast".
None of these people have your interests in mind, only projecting tweets and interviews to show how virtuous they are. That is the current style of reporting and talking. It is sickening.
Then I watch Mark Zuckerberg and Gavin Newsom in a great facetime interview that shed some light on what was happening in CA. Good info, because the numbers there are spiking.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

We are at about 170k confirmed cases in the US today. Almost $3000 dead.

As for Trumps "travel ban". Hes not telling the whole truth (gasp). "on Jan. 31, the policy prohibits non-U.S. citizens, other than the immediate family of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, who have traveled to China within the last two weeks from entering the U.S."

So basically any US citizen could travel here...bringing COVID-19 with them.

Who cares? It was already here. What really hurt was not locking the country down quick enough. Whos fault is that? ALL OF THEM. 98% of congress is owned by corporate America who doesn't want to shut down the assembly line until everyone is dead so that they can squeeze every penny they can out of the working man.

Government is estimating 100,000 dead Americans by August. Thats 2000 per state. Sure would have been nice to have one of those pandemic response teams in place. Maybe some medicare for all so that more people showing early symptoms could have gone to the doctor and got diagnosed before infected all of their friends and family.

I know...i know... "PIE IN THE SKY - WHOS GONNA PAY FOR IT?" Probably the same people who will pay for the $2 trillion dollar stimulus. So glad we earmarked 1/4 of that for large corporations. If only those folks could learn to save and quit buying plasma TVs.

It's not my fault that he is a "F*cking Moron" (Not my words, but rather the words of his first, of about 5,000, Secretaries of State, Rex Tillerson).

The plasma TV thing is an old/ridiculous republican talking point. The republicans before Bush. The ones that seemed more normal.

5000? Typical bluster.

I will vote for Trump JUST to keep people like you loopy. Worth it! Besides, there is no one else to vote for.

There is always suicide. I imagine when Trump gets re-elected, you will consider it. And you should.

The Fox News President was gas lit by Fox News from January until March regarding COVID-19.

Thousands will die as a direct result of Fox News irresponsibility on this matter.

Rather than build capacity starting in January the Trump administration shipped almost 18 billion tons of medical equipment including PPE to China, with no replacement plan in place. At the same time, the rest of the world was ramping up their PO's for the very same gear. Worse than doing nothing.

Once Fox News recommended Trump start taking COVID-19 seriously the Administration has done a decent job reacting. The daily blowings aside.

A competent leader would have listened to the Global Pandemic Response team rather then disband them. A competent leader would have secured PPE and built out ICU/beds starting in January.

Healthcare workers are being sent to slaughter, we will have a massive shortage of Doctors and Nurses across the country for years to come, because of Fox News and the Fox News President.
