For us, it’s not affected anything yet. But I know one of our fellow CIs is stuck on that cruise ship. And I’d say this is probably f***king up his business pretty bad.

Not sure what is worse, the Coronavirus or the Corona News Network.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Yep, no effect on my business because I don't go outside and I don't see people.  Unless my cat gets it, I'm good.

But one of our RC brethren is stuck on that cruise ship.

Just got back to my office/house and traffic is super light this morning. Normally roads are jammed packed but I've heard a lot of tech companies are telling employees to work from home for the month of March.

Wow, that would suck. I guess always book a suite cabin just in case!

Had a couple of jobs cancel...It's only going to get worse. I think the hysteria will cause of lot of lost business and customers who rely on market stability to determine what they are going to spend.

As a joke, I was going to put out on Facebook that we are a Coronavirus free contractor but I'm sure that would offend someone....

I'm not doing anything different than I would do on a regular basis.

Personally I think this is going to wind up being like the Swine Flu of 2009 at it's worst. 275k people were hospitalized and 12,500 died and no one seems to remember that. I see this whole thing winding down within a couple months and by the end of summer people will already be forgetting it even happened. All of my work these days is large scale commercial multi-use building projects and so far I have no indication that anything is slowing down or changing. I see the down market as being my chance to finally get in at the bottom and make some money for once and I think the savvy investors are looking at it the same way.

The market instability is where the immediate pain has been- I had a large update project that was verbally approved last week get postponed this morning in a phone call.

Most of the vendors/reps have reached out with advance warnings about supply chain delays in Asia causing product availability concerns by end of Spring.

Like everything, the social/news media is fueling stupid people's fear and making it worse.

I agree. There isn't a consistent message either. The White House says one thing and then the CDC says another. Ted Cruz is in self-quarantine but Louie Gohmert isn't.

I'm trying to remember, but I can't think of the Swine Flu causing so many events around the world to be canceled like they are with Covid-19 (including SXSW)

I can't help thinking that government types who resented having to take some science classes are now getting even by punishing science because science cannot be cowed and will not negotiate.

We told a client who has been making ridiculous changes to a project (an entire hotel, and they're modifying things that have already been built) that they needed to order the several dozen TVs NOW.

It was three months ago that we first said that. Order them. NOW. Get them in. Better to have a container full of TVs than get caught by some bizarre delay that nobody could have planned on.

Yup, they haven't ordered the TVs yet and now they face a months-long wait.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
