I know that corona is not the flu, but being a virus, how do you think the warming temperatures and spring moving on will help the virus transmission issue?
Influenza tends to die off once the weather warms.
yes some viruses can be very seasonal for example mosquitoes can transmit West Nile virus here but there are no mosquitoes in the winter so it can't be transmitted.
But I think people are unrealistic about the flu and this.
Mathematics without even looking at weather can explain why it is seasonal
Let's take a fake flu case
someone magically catches the flue (0), a day or two later two of his friends catch it from him (and now there are three (1)) a day or two later they each give it to two other friends/family/ co workers (3+2*3=9) (2) a day or two later they each give it to two people (9+9*2=27) (3).…
we can right the equation as Kn where k is the contagion factor and n is the generation (what I bolded above)
with this equation in 10 generations you are at 60k, in 15 gen 14.3M in 20 generations 3.5B
mathematically , even if the weather does not change, the flu virus would pass in a given community in a month or two because it will run out of new hosts that are not immune to it.
Currently, it we don't know if or how long flu victims build immunity. Also, we are not sure about the death rate. 1% -5% of 3.5B is a lot of bodies to bury. In addition to the direct flu induced deaths there will be additional unnecessary deaths and long term disabilities because the healthcare system is too swamped with flu to deal with more routine matters. We could also lose a significant fraction of our healthcare personnel because they are continually operating at ground zero.
This presents some choices. We can do nothing and let the 3.5B chips fall or attempt to manage the outbreak and keep the number of occurrences to a manageable level until we can develop a preventative inoculation or a better care strategy for victims. Past experience with actual and potential pandemics indicates that development of better options requires about 18 months.
At the moment, isolation and good hygiene are the best available control strategies. The practical problem with this strategy is that there are no immediate results. Attention spans are rather short and, since there is no massive drop off in infections in a day or two after starting good hygiene and isolation, the conclusion is that there is no benefit to these practices. Plus, if there are no known cases in MY neighborhood, what's the big deal? It's not my problem.
I'm now actually watching him talk to the media in TV and well yeah.... He basically hasn't stopped talking about how amazing him and his presidency has been over the last 3 years. You guys are in a bit of strife.
We've got about 3500 cases here in Australia and our government has just about brought the country to a standstill to try and stamp this virus out. This time next week, the US will be close to 200,000 cases of the virus and this peanut will still be in front of the camera talking about how well he has done and his magical cure that will be ready really really tremendously amazingly soon.
Thank you for noticing. I wish you could help me understand why half of my country thinks this idiot is our indispensable and genius Dear Leader.

Maybe next election, you could print the tickbox on the ballot paper for trumps competitor in a shiny/gold/silver ink. Just leave trumps tickbox as plain black. That should sway 95% of his voters. This virus will sort out the remaining 5%.

The virus may well sort out more than that. Survival of the fittest and all.

It's not a political view dude. I couldn't care less about politics and I certainly couldn't care less about who does/doesn't like your president. This was actually the first time I've ever paid any attention to trump and that attention I did pay was a direct result of this pandemic. It was actually out of concern for the USA that I listened to his media interview. And well, after hearing him, I'm even more concerned for you guys. No political agenda. I wouldn't even know who his opposition is anyway.
I've actually been watching the US stats over the last few weeks and also been reading your presidents media speeches/reports etc. Said to my Mrs that you guys were in big trouble with this guy at the helm.
So, you think a President of ANY free country is powerful enough to contain a virus that doesn't have a vaccine and cannot be contained? They're Presidents, not super-heroes. You Aussies couldn't contain a fire—that you could see. We won't even talk about your struggle with mice. So, I don't know if I'd have the same confidence you do right now.
Here's an article from a Harvard Professor, who, in January was saying this virus CANNOT be contained. By February, they printed his findings.
The US is a free country, not an authoritarian regime. The benefit of having an authoritarian dictator is they can manage the virus at the end of a rifle. They can confine you to your home, if and when they choose. The problem with an authoritarian dictator is they can manage this virus by the end of a rifle.
I also noticed that you didn't mention anything about the Presidents of Spain or Italy failing to contain the virus. The fatality rate in Italy is 10%, but not a peep out of you. Looks like you just wanted to pile on a particular president.
You sound almost gleeful that we may have 200k cases next week. What does that say about you?
This is what I will tell you. When there is a vaccine, the US will almost certainly be delivering it to Australia. And we'll do it happily.

Scary times ahead eh?
I'd be more scared to be an Aussie - Australia has been sucking the China tit for quite awhile. It's now another Commie China outpost, just like Africa. How's that feel, to be a little down under China bitch?
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.
