Hire a programmer and those systems will stay operational and you will be able to upsell--perhaps not to DM but there are alternatives. At Prodigy price points DM --even the 6x4 is a hard sell--or has been for me. Original PLX2 is a problematic remote but PTX3 can be made to resemble the MTX3.

Unfortunately, no longer a Crestron dealer. Instead of contacting us and discussing full line, they just chopped us off. It was a quick switch to C4 and I haven't looked back. JAP has good HDMI distribution with C4. Works for me.

Yup, pretty much what happened to me. really left a bad taste in my mouth, i have all the intentions of moving to C4 i just dont have the time to fill out the paperwork much less go do a week long training class.

Been to the prodigy site lately? They now list 3 packages with pricing. Im wondering if QVC is their next stop?

I had such high hopes for this product. Oh well.

When this thread was dug up a few days ago I did and was shocked to see that, i dont get it. Maybe their next avenue to save the line is to cut the integrator out completely and sell this direct to end user and have crestron engineers do the programing

Yeah, me too. Although still technically a Crestron dealer I'm now a very p*iss*d off Crestron dealer. They would have to gift us the gear to get us to spec. Crestron for small/medium multiroom a/v in future. For media rooms/theatres forget it, - just do Bitwise or RTI. At least you'll stay competitive.
Thank you for your considered response

Not legacy if you can code. There is NOTHING I cannot do with a PMC3 that I'm not doing with the MC3 save for DM and larger touch panels.

Exactly the OPPOSITE of what Crestron was trying to achieve here ...

I actually think it's well done. It shows consumers that they really CAN afford a Crestron system. Seems to me this would be a great sales tool for Prodigy dealers (if they're out there)

i agree, its a very nicely done website. why wasnt it there when everyone including me signed on to be dealers? why did they burry it in there line up, there was really no push by crestron to get the word out! they even pulled it off there main website for a month while they built that joke of a website until this one came up. And dont even get me started on support, I was direct with crestron from the beginning and if i had an issue they treated it like i was a retarded avad dealer that just jumped on the band wagon that had no business dealing with this type of system.

its stupid how they treated the whole prodigy line from the beginning to now. I hope it dies the fiery death it deserves. They need to shut the program down and come back with something truly competitive to C4 in the price category and not lock it down like they did a year after it released. I also think prodigy is a toxic name to dealers now so if they want to save it they need to rename it.

99.98% of people dont even have a clue who crestron is or what they do until an integrator tells them about it. In the end a client doesn't care whether its got URC or Crestron at the bottom of the remote, all they care about is if it works when they press the shinny ON button. An end user doesn't put crestron on a pedestal like we in this industry put them on.

C4 is starting this on their homepage now with those "starter kits".

Unfortunately for Crestron, they have basically killed off the Prodigy line. I don't think it's time for something new. Let C4 and Elan g! and others do their thing, and Crestron should just concentrate on doing theirs. You can't compete across all markets and win.

Why should any Company's marketing aims be mine? You could argue that Crestron opening up Prodigy dealers was putting its interests over its existing dealer base. In this environment survive and advance is my mantra. I suspect we are using Prodigy in ways Crestron would have no problems and we sell plenty of full Crestron. It was not a very well thought out line, cadged as it was from existing products. I do wish they would continue to offer entry level Crestron to dealers who know what they are doing and know when to use it. Why lose out on a job in this tough economy to inferior systems simply due to price. The package I offer does not compete with full Crestron, but offers features that are attractive to clients and enable a dealer to survive. It does force you to use Prodigy as a control system and to be clever in programming it. It also requires you to be proficient in the software tools--which most Prodigy only dealers are not. Decentralized video, centralized DA, with very limited automation. In a majority of cases it allows me to sell Crestron into systems that would have gone RTI or URC.

Prodigy never ought to have been a separate line marketed to new dealers and sold via distribution. Forgive me if I use it to help my company survive and not how Crestron conceived of it.
