NO SYSTEMBUILDER period. I absolutely refuse to use it. We have a showroom where clients can come in and use a functional Crestron system......With our UI. After they use ours, They really don't want to go backwards.

****I was writing programs for Adagio systems before Composer was even availiable. What a pain in the a$$ those first few were.

Do you have a good simpl program to operate the APAD?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

You make a good point with the APAD. After we did a few of them........We no longer spec APADS. They are the crappiest interface Crestron has had since the MT-500. Clients are much happier with a 4L's (a little more $, But well worth it).

How much of a custom UI can you really do on a PLX2? (or Crestron Equivalent)?

I'd love to see a screen shot or something.

You can simplify the layout considerably by getting rid of all the unused buttons for equipment that is not installed in the house. You can lower the amount of page flips. Tie in an alarm system (try doing that with Composer). Simple things make a big difference.
As far as screen shots, MLX/PLX-2's really don't show you how they work. The screen shots look like DOS......

Yeah that sounds bout right.

So how powerful is Prodigy system. Can you program for 2way control of a Niles ZR4 4 zone DA.

I'm not thinking of using the PLX2 for multi room, but maybe adding another one. How well does the Pro APP do with feedback from the System?

There is a fine line that needs to be looked at before you commit to Prodigy.

Prodigy is a great system actually (The stuff that is availiable anyway).
+Remote access via Econtrol for Lights,HVAC,Security,A/V,Etc.
+Low cost solution that does a lot more than anything else in it's price range
+Expandable
+Fully programmable via Simpl/Vt-Proe
+Two way communication to PLX-2's for cheap

- Only has 2 com ports
- Only expandable to 3 Tstats, 6 PLX-2's, 1 Idoc, etc.
- Only compatible with Prodigy equipment

If you want a TPMC-8x, TPS-6, multiple Idoc's or countless other regular line Crestron products then a Prodigy won't work.

As far as control of a Niles, I don't see a module for it. If you have the protocol for it, then you should be able to program the Prodigy to run it 2 way.

When you say the Pro App, I assume you mean the iPhone Crestron app. I have not used it on a Prodigy, So I can't really comment on that. It works fine with a regular Crestron system once you get through all the setup.

Good feedback. I've seen the App working a Prodigy system and it worked really well, but it was only controlling Prodigy parts.

I'm interested in integration of 3rd party equipment with feedback, like the Niles ZR4/6. In the future I would just use the Prodigy DA amp, but I already have other systems in the field that I'd like it to play with.

JFYI the Prodigy was not designed to do this. Can you? Yes. Roll your own module or take one and make it SB ready then cut it in via SB. You do need to understand HOW to do this and it is not straight forward.

Okay. I knew that it wasn't easy, but I wasn't sure about what is was designed for and what it wasn't.

So what is the 2-way capabilities of this product designed for? Only to work with Prodigy gear? I hope not, especially since they are giving us 2 bi-directional RS232 ports.

Somebody please help. I'm really trying to understand what to expect out of this system. Its definitely sounding like it is very limited in that it works well with other Prodigy and call it at that.

Even if thats the case, its still a under $1k control option killer to URC and RTI. Plus has a limited upgrade path.

I think it will be shipping in April

The PAMP is shipping, some other exciting things to come to make for much larger lighting systems.

I'm hoping this system is able to handle video distribution soon. Been hoping to use Prodigy in a lot of jobs but a lot of the systems require centralized video or more than one home theatre zone. Really tempted to do C4 for the price and versatility. Heck even URC can handle distributed video better but no feedback on handhelds and costs only a little less than Prodigy. I think Prodigy is great for what it's designed for but lately the jobs I've been quoting are simply too big.

Why are you unable to distribute centralized video with a prodigy? It's still a processor. All you'd need was the IR/serial driver for an Autopatch, Kramer, Knox, Key Digital, Zycor or any you prefer to these.

Any why would you need feedback on the remote? Does it really matter to a client that output 4 is on input 3? Or does it matter that there's an image on the TV?

Obviously, Prodigy is the wrong solution if you have 12-18 rooms. Hell, I'd suggest that Adagio is the wrong solution for anything over 12 rooms. Prodigy is not the solution to all jobs. C4 has much to recommend it. It may be the right system for many of you
