I would love to get some kind of training for System Builder but there is none right now - had to sit down with the rep for two hours to get a pretty good idea of how it works. Only got the processor and remote recently and have been waiting over a month for the dealer demo kit to arrive. Made the mistake of selling a small system to a customer before it arrived.

I don't have access to it, but I understand if you are a Crestron Dealer, there is an online course on System Builder.

The is a quick course on System bulider as well as a couple levels of in person training...

Since U-VERSE came out, I have only seen one.

It's getting very popular in St. Louis, especially with people who enjoy bundling and want an alternative to Charter. People around here seem think it is Sofa King great. Thing is if your location has marginal bandwidth, it has limitations like up to 4 boxes in a house, or only two boxes on HD at a time..

Does anyone know if/when the PAMP-4X100 will be available? I haven't checked with Crestron, but thought maybe someone here may know.

I'm also curious how well other products are interfacing with Prodigy such as the iPort or Escient docks, or really any other feedback devices.

This is our Prodigy test rack. It contains a PMC2 controller and remote, PTL4, P-IVDOC, P-TSTATRF, six P-DIMRFs, a Denon AVR1910, Denon DBP-1610 and is waiting for the PAMP-4X100.

Racked it up in a morning, programmed it in about 20 minutes, took about 30 minutes to find the devices, compile and upload. It worked very well for the first attempt. Didn’t even pull into System builder yet.

Took it to the HBA dinner that night and it was well received by anyone who took time to stop and listen to our two minute speech and demo.
One really neat feature is that the customer can set their own lighting scenes with just a few taps on the touch screen. No call backs to adjust lights. Haven’t tried it yet, but the favorite channels should work the same way.

Don’t love the remote, but getting use to it. Looking forward to the new 3” color touch screen. We just programmed our first TPS3X and it is incredible. If the new Prodigy version is anything close, it will be our go-to system for a lot of jobs.

The only equipment issue has been two incorrectly wired power supplies for the PTL4. We did an install the other day and the polarity was reversed on both supplies right out of the box.

Our customers are eating this product up!

This looks great and is some really good feedback. I just got a PCM2 & PLX2 today to start playing with, still waiting on our complete demo kit.

I was leery of the PLX2 but after letting the wife check it out, it passed. That said, the PTX3 will be an awesome addition to the product line.

I really hope they open up some Cresnet power distribution blocks and parts to us Prodigy only dealers to simplify the installations.

Also I saw the iPhone Mobile Pro app running the Prodigy system today real time and it was very impressive and easy to navigate.

One thought that I had about the PCM2/PLX2 combo is that for clients who's kids are still young and use the system a lot, the remote is very inexpensive at >$200 to replace compared to say an RTI T2Cs/RP1 combo, where just to replace the remote is $699 and the RP1 is VERY limited compared to what the PCM2 can do.

Per Crestron's website and my local rep, the PAMP-4X100 will be released the end of this month, December. It as slipped once, so I hope that it sticks for this month.

The Crestron iPod Doc works so well, even the video that I can't imagine using anything else. And the price is right!

TSTATs have a nice user interface (programming schedules and temporary) on the PTL4". In fact, my suggestion is that you don't sell a system with TSTATS or lighting without the 4" included in the system.

Still waiting from anyone whether or not the Crestron Pro App for iPhone can work off-site without a fixed IP residential Internet service. Crestron tech support says I can't use dynamic dns but others have said you can. Anyone try this to confirm 100%?

Yes it works but you have to do one of two things. Set your router to send you an email once a day. In that email you will find your WAN address. Change it in setup for Crestron Mobile App and you good.

Prodigy kicks ass......I wouldnt give someone an RTI or Universal anymore.....no room to expand. If your selling a remote for less than 7-8 hundred retail....whats the point?

Crestron Prodigy is a home run in my opinion.

It works.

We did a system with an Adagio AES, a router that updates Dyndns.org as the WAN IP changes and used the Crestron Mobile Pro app pointing to the Dyndns URL for the project.

No need for a daily email or any change on the iPhone once you get it working.

Worked on WiFi and on the 3G network.

Hope that helps.

Later,

George P.

What are you guys doing about the limited range of the PLX2? We have a test system set up in an older home with plaster wall construction and the remote barely works in the next room. To the best of my knowledge the website still has no details on the repeater for the handhelds.

Thanx

Sorry for going slightly OT but how many of your clients are expecting to roam with the mlx-2? Or any handheld from rti or whererver. Have u though about using the tpmc-3x (not sure of the prdigy model number)? I would assume range might be better with wifi. But we all know what assuming can lead to :)
