Fobis Technologies Weemote 2 Reviewed
Plus file area updates

RC News Story
Weemote 2 When we first took a look at the Weemote kids' remote control back in November, we figured that it would be the perfect decoy from the expensive learning models that we normally cover... you know, the ones that really don't like accidental drops or sticky fingers. While it certainly filled both that niche and its designed one with aplomb, higher-end customers noted a number of improvements that they'd like to see added to the little blue clicker.

The manufacturer listened! Fobis Technologies has massaged the Weemote into a new model with greater capabilities and called it the Weemote 2. You'll find more channel macros, additional customization options and a greater number of supported devices. Since the Weemote 2 is functionally similar to its predecessor, you'll need to prime yourself with our original Weemote coverage before continuing on to the Weemote 2's capsule review. Enjoy!

Pronto/RC5000 CCF archive update...
This week I began to wonder exactly why it feels like so much time has been spent managing the Pronto/RC5000 file area - and then I checked. Since the beginning of the year we've had over 110 complete system file uploads and an I-don't-even-want-to-know number of model configurations, bringing the total up to over 390 systems and 2850 components. That's absolutely amazing - keep sending those files in!

This week we've got new or updated system CCFs from:

Andy Schmidt
Brian Turner
Chris Buck
Chris Sculthorpe
James O'Connor
Joe Cothran
John Mooney
Josh Faux
Ken Winders
Leo Greene
Leszek Tomica
Malka Alain
Mark Smallman
Maurizio Bertini
Patrick Navin
Paul Roberts
Peter A. Kemmer
Philippe Remi
Stephan Schreiber
Thomas Lange
Tony Pereira

As for individual component setups, files have been submitted for the following:

  • Apex AD-800 DVD player (Lee Kupersmith)
  • Hitachi VT-UX6430 VCR (Warren Soeldner)
  • Kenwood DPF-J9030 CD changer (Udo Neumann)
  • Marantz SR-780 receiver, Mitsubishi CT-33AC2SL TV, Pioneer DV-535 DVD player, Sony CDP-CX270 CD player & Sony SLV-X827NZ VCR (Tony George)

MX system files too!
It looks like the new consolidated .MX file format used with the Home Theater Master MX-1000 remote control is going over well with users - you can already find 7 system setups in the MX-1000 file area, including my own! New files are available from:

Brian Hafner
Jason Sampson
Jim Giles
John Corkery
John Sumner

You can read about the recently released MX Designer PC application here - and if you have a MX-1000 & .MX file, upload it!
