So..... I finally got my RTI bucks rewards. It took 9 weeks.

I received a T2C, T3V, RP6. I will be picking up an RM433.

I will probably program the T3V for home and could easily design one of the bullet proof systems we usually design and program, but I have more time with this remote and want to go for cool factor more than simplicity. I will probably use it as a Demo remote as well.

Looking for ideas or even samples if anyone wishes.

Gear:

Denon AVR2807
Samsung 58" 1080P 550 series plasma
Sammy DVD
XBOX 360
SA8300hd
Possibly Panasonic IP camera

Ideas:

Please wait animations/Page flips
Scrolling lists
Unique backgrounds/buttons
Web surfing

Any other suggestions? Anything I am missing or forgetting about?

Joey- I saw some of the graphics on your web page and am curious if we could talk about some custom animations or backgrounds with my company logo/info/mascot or if that is a silly idea. PM me if interested.

The T2C will probably be used as another demo remote and IR database for learning into URC remotes etc.

Mascots are never a silly idea. This guy is the mascot for my first website many many years ago :)

Shoot me an email, Id love to help out.

One thing you might want to include on the demo, which has helped me ALOT, is a slideshow of completed jobs.. Adding a .WAV music file while the animation plays adds to the coolness factor.

I have other ideas as well, I'll include them in the email...

One of our biggest problems as an industry has traditionally been selling to women. Especially something like a big expensive remote! So when I knew I was going to be selling to a woman or a couple, I had a program that had lots of pictures cute puppies and kittens. It sounds lame but it got her to hold the remote, touch it and use it which in turn showed her how incredibly easy it could make "her husband's silly stereo system" to operate.
All my favorite things turn money into noise...

I created a finger flick football program for at RK3/T2C/T3v that is a pretty fun little game that only took about an hour and a half to create though the graphics aren't great it is pretty fun...other things using the same format could be a coin toss program with n outcomes...also take a look at some of the iPhone/iTouch apps and see what makes sense and can be modified to work (restaurent chooser, movie times not sure if fandango has a mobile website, maybe a link to mapquest mobile if it works properly)

I also am a fan of the slideshow function and usually have about 15 local pictures I include but I don't automate it (great for an RK3 when not in use). And I have links to weather, traffic, stocks and sports included.

Other then that I havent gotten to much more creative as I don't really have any photoshop skills.

I'd love to have the ability to put an RSS feed for sports scores on a K4 or T4 to scroll while still having a home page up.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

I would love to set up a slide show but for the life of me cant figure out how to import backgrounds, buttons, etc.

I have an idea to load a page of projects in thumbnail image buttons that transport to a full page background of the selected button. Maybe even interactive.....touch the TV and it transports to another page of the same image with the TV on....touch the lights and it jumps to a page with the lights on in the same image. I can do it once I learn how to incorporate buttons.

Besides that.... I am very happy with the way it has turned out. Even the wife likes it.

I like the 'interactive demo' idea...I used to do something similar for demo'ing pairs of speakers where I would set up a bunch of random macro sequences that would alternate between different pairs of speakers and amplifiers and would display the current config on the screen and I would make notes of "customer likes this versus what was just played and in about 5 minutes we'd have a pretty good idea of what they really liked"...the benefit of the automated process is that as the sales person we could run it ourselves as a double triple...etc. blind test and see what we thought too.

Sound:

All you have to do is preformat the image to an acceptable resolution 320x240 or 640x480 (or less); then save it in the the RTI bit map location on your hard drive. then just like the oem graphics/buttons drag and drop (one onto each page) and then creat a macro that page link/jumps then pauses for 'n' seconds then page link/jump to the next image and so on and so forth...the drawback with the automated version is that once its set in place you can not stop it until it finishes executing all the page links/jumps; and pauses which can be a while (and in turn your control system/that one remote is offline so to speak).

I didnt even think to just drop it in. I assumed it had to be created into the .rti existing .bml file.

in addition to to the required size format editing Eastside AV mentioned .....
On the RTI Dealer site, go to the tech bulletin section and read the bulletin named
"Custom Color Graphics"
