I have a Tivo unit that I'd like to control with the 15-1994. I've seen comments here that others have been able to get Tivo to work by learning all of its codes. I've seen the following here:

"Finally got through to Tandy CS. The code for TIVO is 0618 but the 15-1994 does not have this code and RS will not update it, even if sent in. The rep suggested that I trade it in for a model upgradable by phone. I requested any advanced codes just in case they may work"

Can anyone tell me what model is upgradable by phone? Is there a 15-1994 model that can be upgraded this way? Any other thought on using the 15-1994 with Tivo?

Picked up my 15-1994 3 days ago.
By far the best remote you can buy. I have it controlling the following:

Sony kv32xbr45 television
Sony cdp-c600 5-disc DVD Changer
Sony strde-835 receiver
Sony 100 Disc CD-Changer
RCA 5451 Satellite Digital Dolby receiver.
Mitsubishi VCR

I'm sure it will control my kv61s70 Projection tv when it rolls in here next Saturday as well.

GO OUT AND BUY THIS REMOTE! You won't be sorry.

In response to Mike, way up there in the thread, about the suede-like finish: I also just purchased the 1994 here in Ottawa, Canada. And I had seen all the new units at a Radio Shack in Watertown, N.Y. the weekend of April 15. At least one of them had the suedey finish; I don't remember if it was the 1994 or a smaller 4-in-1. In any case, the 1994 I bought here is slippery, not suede.

Thanks to all those who pointed out that this unit is entirely programmable. With the extra labelled buttons, this remote is a much more useable tool than the previous model from RS.

I have been unsuccessful setting up AUX2 to work my Marantz 7000 receiver. 0039 and 0189, the Marantz receiver codes shown in the instuction book, don't work, and I gave up code searching after pressing the power button hundreds of times with no luck.
I see from previous posts others have had success with the 7000. Would one of you please help and post the correct code for the 7000?

Well, I too am a happy new owner of the 15-1994. I have spent the past 6 hours or so culling information from various sites to come up with a consise programming reference. There may be a few errors since I have not tried all of the options, I just wanted an easy shorthand reference for programming this thing.

Please enjoy this and lemme know if any are screwed up (I personally don't trust the "stack / shift" macro instructions I got from [Link: ampersand.hypermart.net])

here goes...

Scott,

Regarding the FAV/SCAN button on the Hughes DSS: you can't reprogram the 1994's FAV/SCAN button. However, you can program your Hughes favorite's feature onto another key such as 4s.

check out

for the advanced codes

In response to Stephen Perez' post (back a few posts)

You can get all the info you need from these two sites:

FAQ: [Link: ampersand.hypermart.net]

MANUAL: [Link: ampersand.hypermart.net]

Regarding the various buttons that are missing when you program the 15-1994, most of them can probably be created using the 'advanced codes' if you can find them for each of yur devices. If you can't find an 'advanced code' for a specific button, then you can 'learn' that function from your old remote. The instructions are in the manual above. (Note: even though it says that you can only learn codes onto the four special learning buttons, this is not true, follow the same instructions for any button on the remote - except the FAV/SCAN button and the device buttons).

Hope this helps.
Rob.

You can put HTML in the forum, but you can't insert an entire web page into another. If you reformat it as *plain* HTML (no style sheets) I can replace the one you posted.

Unexpected Feature!

I had a slight accident last night involving my 15-1994 and a glass of Cabernet. My only previous experience with liquids and an electronically programmed device was a disater after I spilled a cup of coffee on the dashboard and it dripped into my car stereo. The unit never fully recovered. Fast forward changed to the volume control. The station presets became tape transport controls am/fm became eject, and some functions never did work again at all.

I am happy to report that the 15-1994 survived with all functions intact and not even a sticky button.

Has anyone tried the 15-1995??? 7-in-1 remote using RF. I am told by Tandy that this unit has an RF command console that translates the RF signal to
infrared to control your infrared devices. If it does everything that the 15-1994 does, this is really a great remote for the price.

The 15-1995 is not a learning remote, but other than that I believe it can do all the other cool tricks that the 15-1994 can do. I used to have the an earlier version of this remote, what you get is a small transmitting device that you have to position somewhere where it can "see" your equipment, then you are free to wander out to the pool, or whatever, and still control the volume. Pretty niffty!

Heh, I'm bummed out I missed the sale on this one. It's now retailing for $39.99. I also took a look at the 15-1995, looks pretty cool, but I imagine that the lack of learning capabilities is a serious drawback. I am new to universal remotes so maybe someone could verify that for me. The attractive things about it are the RF, LCD, & also 7 in 1 features, not to mention the fact that it "is" on sale for $49.99.

What's the scuttlebutt on this thing? Anyone buy it?
