It may be time to move this to a new thread for easier reading. Anyone else think so?

Question...

My Winbook laptop has an IR printer port... will this work with Dave's software, or do I need to go ahead and shell out the bucks for the USB IR port?

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

The device relies solely on the USB dongle that Mike has created. Others have mentioned using the IrDA port as well and Mike explained previously (somewhere) in this thread about why it's not viable. Sorry! You'll need USB for this one...

David previously referred to as Randy :)

We're 9 pages into this thread and now it's filled with "add me" comments that new folks will have to dig through. I'm just suggesting that it might be time to retire this thread and start up a new IRCLONE-MX thread which is really what this is all about now.

When is the release data already. Or have I missed a post telling where to go and purchase it?

BTW, has anyone checked out the IR Blaster (IR500 PC Controler) by Boca Labs?

No you haven't missed anything yet. Please be patient a little longer. The first production lot is in progress and the software is too.

Actually, yes, but the cost of hardware alone was 50% more than the IRClone-MX with software!

Seems like somewhat more capable hardware, although probably not worth the extra 50% price difference.
