I'm interested in getting this to work on Macs under OS X. If I understand correctly, the real-time requirements are handled by the board, i.e. the app sw could be written in Java, no? If so, I'd like to give it a try on my imac. Is it possible to get a copy of the app sw source?

Also, please sign me up as an early adopter.

Three cheers for Mike C.

Mike:

How about a ballpark estimate for the pricing?
A) $20-$50
B) $51-$100
C) $101-$150
D) $151+
E) Way too early to even guess.

I am interested in buying one as well, if you are estimating interest........or making a list. I have been intermittantly following this page for quite some time, but have forgotten/missed some of the details....

Is it possible for someone to summarize what this thing can do, and how it attaches to the pc? (or at least tell me what page I can find this info, so I dont have to skim all 7 pages.)

"... web based facilities for storing and exchanging MX-500 files "

This sounds like a great idea & a perfect complement to Mike's device. Does anyone know if it has been initiated?

Hey Guys,
I'm the software 'Dave' working with MikeC... Thought I would respond since Mike is on vacation.

Our current focus is development of a Win32 (Windows) application to allow upload/download & editing of your MX-500 data.

Why Win32 and not Mac or WEB based?

1) That's what we know best. 2) We believe that the Win32 platform has the biggest user base (vs. Mac). 3) A WEB "app" which talks to USB drivers has way too many issues. And exchange of MX-500 files via. the WEB is outside our scope (that's why we have RemoteCentral.com).

Here is a recap of the SW features:
· A Windows application which will run on Win98 WinMe, Win2K, WinXP.
· WYSIWYG view of the MX-500 with a 'tree' organization of the Device, Favorite and Macro Data. Icons and Reminder Tips indicate 'programmed', 'learned' and 'empty' buttons.
· Backup the programmed contents of the MX-500 (device codes, labels, learned buttons, macros, favorites, etc.) to a file.
· Reload a MX-500 from a saved file.
· Edit all button labels (Device Names, Device Buttons, Favorites)
· Copy/Move a 'Device' from one button to another on main screen.
· Copy/Move labels from one button to another.
· Copy/Move IR code from one device button to another device button.
· Program Macros interactively by 'clicking' on device buttons.
· Review Macros in a 'Table' format.
· Program/Review Favorites in a 'Table' format.

Advanced (Future) Features:
· Capture IR codes from another remote and assign to buttons.
· Paste 'Pronto Hex Format Codes' and assign them to buttons/macros.
· Save learned IR codes to 'Pronto Hex Format'.

Hardware:
The hardware is a small cable and IR xmit./recv. which plugs in via. a USB port (dongle).

As far as price & availability, I can't comment on that right now, I know Mike will let everyone know soon.

Hope this answers some of the questions.

-Dave

Good morning,

The problem is now fixed. I am reliably using
the IRCLONE-MX to upload from and download to
the MX-500 from the PC. It will also capture key
presses and will transfer MX-500 files between
PCs and back again.
Basic Features:
......

I am sure you all have lots of other suggestions.

Hi Mike,

This is looking very promising! I have a problem with my MX-500 and my Pioneer DVD DV-525 which noone have been able to help me with so far...
I'm having problems creating a macro that will change the region code setting on my DVD player.
The problem is that the directional/navigation keys (on the thumpad) or "arrow buttons" seem to be sent out twice when used in a macro. However, they work fine when used manually!
If I create the same macro on my RS 15-1994 it works perfect (but there is no way to transfer it to my MX-500).

My wish and question to you is if you think I will be able to solve this problem with the dongle and the software? Will it be possible to "analyze" what's coming out from my MX-500 when using the macro and edit and correct any bits or bytes that may be incorrect? I have tried a thousand different things to solve this but so far no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Regards Joakim

Put me on the list as well.

Have been following this thread almost since it began - one of the first things I check whenever I log on. I just think that the work that Mike and Dave have done is fantastic/amazing. Certainly beyond my capabilities. As to returns and warranties, let's not put the cart before the horse and let's get these things in peoples' hands!
