Sam,

This has been requested multiple times, so I know it is up there on many peoples wish list, the problem is for any movie that has more than one disc, there isnt enough room on the multiple disc page for location and slot information of each disc.

Here is what I do however that gets me around this problem.. pick up the remote, and go through the same procedure as if you are going to play the movie, only when your remote jumps back to your DVD controls page, hit the eject button.. The changer will rotate around to the correct disc and open up at that slot, ready for you to put the movie in. This way, not only do you not have to know the slot number, but you dont even have to manually rotate to that spot in the changer.

I had no solution for the space constraint, until just recently. While having a conversation with a colleague, I came up with a solution to this problem while trying to accomodate an unrelated request.

I will post more information about the solution after I have had a change to fully test it to make sure it works as I expect it to.

Thanks for the request, keep them coming guys. Love to hear new ideas.

Have a great weekend.

*** CD SUPPORT UPDATE ***
CD Support is currently being added to DMX-3000. Music Collector, from Collectorz.com is the cataloging software being used to import the data.

The demo version of Music Collector will allow up to 100 CD's to be entered before purchasing is required.

There are just a few extra pieces of information that you are required to enter in specific spots in Music Collector. A Location and Slot for each disc. Once this information is entered, you simply export to XML. The XML file is then fed into DMX-3000 in the same manner as the DVD section of the software.

There will be some slight modifications to the Import Header for anyone that is already using DMX-3000 software once the CD support is added.

For anyone that is wanting to start cataloging their CD collection in preperation for the DMX update. Here is the specific information that must be entered in order for DMX to properly process the albums.

In Music Collector, after you have added an album and all associated discs. Edit the album, click on 'personal tab', under location, enter the name of your changer. (Will be the same Location used in DVD Profiler if you are using both). Click OK.

Edit each disc in this album, and enter the Slot in the 'Catalog Number' text box, Click Ok.

**NOTE**

1) Please make sure you enter the slot in the DISC'S CATALOG NUMBER, not the ALBUM'S CATALOG NUMBER

2) This is the best solution I came up with for storing the required information. What it will NOT allow you to do is store discs from the same album in different changers. Since the Location is tied to the album and not to each individual disc. I dont see this being a problem, as long as you are aware of this limitation going in.

3) I cant guarantee that this procedure wont change prior to release, but is pretty firm as of now. Unless someone else makes a better suggestion ??

If anyone has any suggestions and/or thoughts I would love to hear them.

I cant give a time frame on when the update will be made available, as I currently have obligations to another project that are keeping me from working on DMX-3000 at this time. I should be able to resume work with DMX after that though.

I will post more information as I have it.

Regards,

Cataloging Changer Locations

In the event its not blatantly obvious to anyone else trying to get acquainted with Music Collector… the Edit Disc window can be opened by clicking on the “Tracks” tab while editing the album, then right clicking on the disc. I almost began editing by closing the album edit window and opening the disc edit window in a separate step. Not a big deal but leisure time is valuable right?

Hey Bracken,

I've got a real easy upgrade request for the next version release.

Could you stick a select box somewhere that would allow us to choose ;

1 month
2 months
3 months
6 months

as Options for the time "NEW RELEASES" are considered such. I need more time as my DVDs are disappearing before I get a chance to watch them.

Thanks

NEW RELEASES REQUEST

I know you hear this a lot, :) but it already is in the next release. Only its not a select box, but rather just a text box which you enter the number of days you wish to include for New Releases. What is the consesus here, would everyone rather see number of months or days. Either is perfectly fine with me, no difference on my end.

Thoughts ??

I think it should be in days. Weeks or months isn't granular enough.

I agree, I haven't been using that function because I couldn't set the time frame myself. I like the number of days feature myself that I can control.

Sounds great to me. It all does the same thing and this way with greater control.

Thanks Bracken

PS maybe a salivator email to all registered users with all the current upgrades and less bothersome email from those of us who think we have this great new ,old, ideas.
:)

shnakz69,

Yes, you will receive all future updates free. It is a one time purchase fee.
This will even include the CD section of the software when it is available.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
