Preparing your RCC File.
1. Open your existing RCC file in the MX-Editor.

2. Import the DMX-3000 Device from the supplied "Import Header.rcc" file into your current RCC file.

3. Make any links you want from your Main Screen or DVD Device (ie. "Watch Movie") to the "DMX-3000\Main" Page.

4. Make a copy of the "CONTROLS" page for each Changer you wish to control.

5. Rename each "CONTROLS" page to exactly what you entered in DVD Profiler as the Location.

6. Add the IR codes for each of the 0-9 keys that correspond to that changers controls.

7. Configure the "Before" button so that it contains the commands necessary to get the changer into a state so that the slot numbers can be entered.

8. Configure the "After" button so that it contains the commands necessary to load the disc after the slot numbers are entered.

9. If the Changer requires the use of +10 and +100 buttons to work properly (Kenwood for example) leave them in there.
If not delete them (Sony and Pioneer). The macros will be created according to the existence of these buttons.

10. Save this RCC file as it is complete and ready for running in DMX-3000. This file will be referred to as the BaseRCC from now on.

Running DMX-3000

1. Open DMX-3000, if you have already exported your DVDXML it should automatically load that movie listing for you. If not, select the Open folder (First Button from the left) and load the DVDXML we created earlier. (DMX-3000 will automatically load the last used file from this point forward)

2. You should now see a list of your current movies, if the Thumbnail Images button (second from the left) is enabled it means you need to create missing Thumbnail images, so click this button. It will take each cover image from DVD Profiler and create a thumbnail at the appropriate size for use on the remote for you.

3. Click the BaseRCC file button (third button from the left) and select your BaseRCC file we prepared earlier. (DMX-3000 will load the last used file from this point forward.)

4. In the options list on the right you should see the "Detailed Pages", "New Purchases", "By Genres", etc. Select the options you wish to have put into your remote here. New Purchases are listed as any movie bought in the last 45 days. By default any Genre that doesnt contain at least 8 Movies or one full page is not selected.

5. Click the Save button (fourth button from the left). Once this process is complete your file is ready for use.

6. Clicking the MX-Editor button (fifth button from the left) will open the new file in the MX-Editor so you can easily upload it to your remote.

7. Enjoy the convenience of having easy access to your entire movie collection at your fingertips.

Is there a changer that works better with DMX and MX than others? For example the 995 vs 777ES or even 985.

I honestly cant say whether it works better with one or another, because I have never had two of them sitting side by side to do a true comparison with. I do know however that there are many users with all models of sony changers. I know they all use similar, if not identical, macros for loading discs. So they should all work similar, if not identical, with DMX-3000.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Someone else might have used the software with two different models of changers simultaneously and be able to tell tell us if one responds better than the other.

I have two differnet sony units, the 300 and the newer 400 and they both work exactly the same from this software. I have not noticed any difference in the use, actually since some movies are in one and some in the other I very rarley know which player I am using so that is a good sign that they both work the same.

I have two 985's and a Pioneer 777. Both load the appropriate disks in about the same amount of time. In the end, the DMX software makes the disk navigation systems obsolete so for me the selection of a player comes down to issues of use and system integration.

I have 3 changers, Pioneer 727, Sony 860 and 985. All work brilliantly with DMX, even the reverse side play function of the 860.

There you have it ceylonfan, no noticable difference in the control of the differnet model changers. So get which ever changer best fits any other criteria you might have.

I picked up my Sony 995v yesterday. Thanks for the help and advice everyone. I should be receiving my MX3000 today (I bought used from RC marketplace) and Damon is doing the programming so I know it will be done right. The last part is purchasing the DMX software and getting it installed. I'm hoping by weeks end my system will be a showstopper.

I would love to try it out!!!! I have a Sony mega changer with 245 DVDs. I also have everything on DVD profiler so I think it would be great to see how it wooks on the MX3000.
