I agree. My first Harmony had a scroll wheel on the side, back when we could macro within macro's. Sad to see. Logitech has not only brought down the Harmony name but they have destroyed the custom market for integrators like you and I. I just saw the consumer version of the 550 at home depot and radioshack for 99 dollars called the 520. This a week after their sales person called me to try to sell me the new models and let me know that they are revamping their approach to the custom market. In my opinion they are using us.

Hi folks,
Wish I had known about this forum before. Just adding my woes to the legacy.

Purchased an 890 about 3 weeks ago and have been doing constant battle with Logitech almost daily since that point. Am somewhat embarrassed to admit to all the loops I have jumped through at their insistence.

I was first told that I had to remove my wireless router as it was interferring with my attempts to update the remote. Never had any problem before, but decided to remove it temporarily to get past the update. No change at all--unit still could not communicate with their web site. Took three days working with my router vendor to get that back online. Logitech said the remote was bad; had me ship it back for a replacement.

Got the replacement in and had the exact same problem. Was then told my browser (Internet Explorer, version 7) was not compatible with their product. That was a first (later found that a friend had the 880 with a wireless router and IE7 and never has had any issue with updates).

Wasn't about to remove IE7, but did find an old 486 PC that still had IE6. Used that and was finally able to get the unit to communicate with their web site. Still no help as initial attempts to use would only turn on the cable box and tuner--could not turn on my TV.

Called back, spent an hour on the phone with their tech support. Result was the unit was unable to turn anything on. Was told Level 2 support would contact me in 24 hours. Received email two days later saying unless I called Level 2, they were assuming problem was solved. Ridiculous.

Contacted Level 2, spent two and one-half hours on the phone (40 minutes of which was on hold), with no progress. Except that the tech had me remove and re-install all my USB drivers--now two of these formerly working devices are not functioning. Told them I would try working with another customer who had not encountered these issues (my friend with the wireless router and IE7). If that did not work, advised them I would be shipping the unit back for a refund.

I'm convinced these guys really don't have a clue and resort to blaming anything and anyone other than Logitech for problems their customers are having with this product. In a case like this, I would really rather have someone admit the problem. What's the point of having your customer screw up their system because you haven't adequately tested, developed, or provided appropriate support for a product?

Not sure whose brainchild this was at Logitech. Talk about doing damage to an already tarnished product line. What a waste.

Hey guys, quick update!

Maybe posting to this forum brought me luck. Found a way this morning to load the software on my laptop (which, ironically, accesses internet via IE7 through my wireless router) and was finally, finally able to get a Level 2 tech who knew her business. Took another 40 minutes on the phone, but she got everything to work. I advised her that, while I greatly appreciated her efforts and success, this whole experience was hugely dissapointing from a service standpoint. I can only hope that I have no further problems; having to start over again with their customer support is not something I would wish on anyone.

Ok, about the website. It is lacking alot of things that you are forced to do manually.

1) They should allow a cut/paste of a page of additional buttons. Building activities that all require the same extra screens of tv and/or device codes is a pain.

2) Specify many new button names to load custom ir commands. Right now, you have to add them one at a time.

3) A way to go back to their database for IR codes. If you change to a custom one and then delete it, it does NOT briong back the database item, it leave the button blank.

4) A default 'additional buttons' screen under device. A tab on the device screen next to the setup for the specific device, that gets used to add pages of special buttons when a device is selected and added to an activity. Right now, you need to enter these buttons manually

5) Copy an activity setup from another activity. This would include all buttons, etc. A Full copy of a current activity that you can then modify.

6) On an 890, Rearrange ROOMS! You can not rearrange these after building them, unless you remove a room AND ALL ACTIVITIES!!! This sia pain.
