Last nights episode of Dr Who (Flatline) was simply magnificent ..Great story well acted, great premise.. and we saw the Tardis in many sizes and a different form (possibly its real look without the faulty chameleon circuit although its supposed to be cylindrical) , I really do like the edgy Doctor calling people pudding brains and being so obsessed with finding things he doesn't know.

Peter Capaldi's performance although taking a back seat in this episode was really good... best episode for a long while in my personal opinion

Something of a homage to "Banksy" I thought, but very good nonetheless - I cracked up at the doctor passing Clara the sledgehammer.

A little off topic...

Whilst watching The Amomaly last night (a low budget sci-fi thriller) there is a scene where Noel Clarke's character, Ryan, takes a remorseful look at a picture of himself with his deceased wife. Though not in the film, the woman in the picture is none other than Freema Agyeman.

All geared up for the new series (coming soon) I happened upon this youtube video - a Peter Jonesian* Hitch-hikers Guide to the Daleks...

I started binge watching Season 8...A couple of things...

So tired of the dimwitted (but not really) boyfriend of the girl (any girl) that travels with the doctor. Hopefully this ingredient doesn't make it into the next season.

Come on...i meet DrWho today and he asks me to come aboard...good bye to everyone in my life. I won't be phoning home or trying to make it into for Christmas where cybermen may or may not be trying to take over London or the world.

Speaking of cybermen...The last episode i watched was DarkWater. Really? Cybermen again? Why not Dalek too? Will they ever come up with new threats or does each doctor get a go around with the current lot?

I like this doctor and companion. I just wish their stories were a little better/something different. Maybe Death in Heaven will blow my mind when i watch it...hopefully.

But the beauty of time travel is that you don't say goodbye to everyone in your life, you just pop off to have a few adventures and return a second or so after you left - a concept that was briefly covered in "The Power of Three" (series 7).

As for The Cybermen and Daleks, I believe there's a bit BBC emotional baggage involved, as there is with me having watched the Daleks since their inception in 1963. However, I agree that the "Dark Water/Death in Heaven" stories were a bit wishy-washy, though I cannot agree about the lack of originality/being better.

Here are a few worthy of mention...

S1
The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances

S2
Tooth and Claw
School Reunion (The return of the late Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith)
The Girl in the Fireplace

S3
The Shakespeare Code
Human Nature/The Family of Blood
Blink

S4
The Unicorn and the Wasp
Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead

S5
Time of the Angels/Flesh and Stone
Vincent and the Doctor
The Lodger
The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang

S6
The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon
The Doctor's Wife
A Good Man Goes to War/Let's Kill Hitler

S7
A Town Called Mercy
The Angels Take Manhattan

S8
Mummy on the Orient Express
Flatline

Roll on Saturday.

Great examples...The mummy episode was really good. I wish they would do 8 episodes like that then spend the last 2-4 on the ongoing dalek etc story.

Like /videos" target="_blank">bowlestrek I'm not adverse to the concept of a female doctor, but Jodie Whittaker is simply not up to the task.

Her acting is dreadful (though she's not alone in this), the stories are awful, with the scripts lurching from infantile to crass - the Rosa Parks episode being embarrassingly so. Oh, and Chibnall is a complete hack.

Well, that's a relief.
