I looked around and could find nothing that describes the IR commands in any way. You will have to learn the numerals 0 through 9 and send me a ccf file and I can probably decode it and then send you all possible commands (usually 256) and you will have to try them all.

Jon, I'm not sure how to give you a ccf file. I am an MX500/IRClone user. Also have JP1.

A JP1 file is even easier. Just send me the file saved using IR.exe with the learned commands for the numerals.

Hi jon, I was hoping that you had received a ccf file for this and had figured out the discrete power on/off codes, as I am looking for them as well. I found the following file in the files area here, but it doesn't have the discretes yet either. I hope you can find the time to look at it and help all us Momitsu owners by figuring out the codes. [Link: remotecentral.com]Thanks. Karna. BTW: I am an MX500 owner too.

There is a device upgrade in the JP1 Group and with a JP1 cable and JP1 capable OFA remote you could upload the device upgrade to an OFA remote, test all possible commands and then learn them to your MX-500.
The upgrade does not indicate any discrete commands. It uses NEC1:0.
You might see if it turns On from Off with a Play command. If so a macro for Play|Stop is Power On and Play|Power Toggle is Off.

Hello and thanks!, Not to sound like a complete dolt, but what are you referring to by device upgrade? I have read some of the JP1 faq and other material, but have not tried it out. I guess I need to buy a cable and and JP1 remote first. Also, I sent Manowa (makers of the momitsu) tech sipport an email asking for discretes, and they sent me back a jpg of the remotes faceplate and a list of the buttons and their corresponding codes. However, these do not look like Pronto type Hex codes to me, though I could be very wrong. Is there a way to post that jpg here? From what I can make of it, it does not seem like there are discrete codes possible, but ICBW. Thanks again.

The Momitsu does not seem to respond to any command other that the power toggle when the unit is off. Best bet is to send them an email requesting discrete power codes in a a future firmware upgrade.

The jpeg had the same commands that are in the JP1 device upgrade. For Pronto or IR Clone users download John Fine's latest version of MakeHex. There is a link in the thread below: [Link: remotecentral.com]The commands are all NEC1 protocol device = 0. The hex characters by each fuunction in the jpeg when converted to decimal are the Functions listed below. If you have an OFA remote, then there are several ways to test for all the commands. I prefer doing it in a device upgrade and you can use the ones in the file as a basis. NEC1:0 00 eject 01 num 3 03 menu 05 num 2 06 select 07 repeat 09 num 1 10 setup 11 audio 12 power 13 PBC 15 title 16 zoom 20 slow 24 info 28 vol up 64 right arrow 65 num 0 66 num 9 67 num 6 68 up arrow 69 clear 70 num 8 71 num 5 72 down arrow 73 mute 74 num 7 75 num 4 76 left arrow 78 search 79 subtitle 80 A-B 81 pause 82 play 84 next chapter 85 stop 87 video out 88 previous chapter 89 fast fwd 91 angle 92 vol down 93 rewind 95 return

jarmstrong,
Thanks, very very much for your kind efforts. I dl'ded MakeHex and edited the nec1.irp file within to set the device to 0 as you suggested. I then ran the file thru MakeHex to produce the hex codes.
Then I used IRPanels to produce a ccf file from the hex codes. When I open the ccf with prontoedit, and double click on any of the device buttons, i should be able to see the pronto hex code for that button right?
Well i don't see any codes for any of the buttons, anywhere. Is this a problem with IR Panels or am I doing something wrong here?
I had hoped to use the ccf to import into my MX800 editor program and then test all the codes to see if any would give me the desired discrete power on code.
Am I even on the right track here?
Thanks again, for you help.

Sounds like you did everything right. In pronto edit click one of the numeral buttons, then the "action tab" comes up, in the large box above it should highlight the name of the command in blue, double click on that, ADD-IR dialog box appears and a view IR button, when you select that the hex code will show up.
Once you see that there are IR commands, then test a known command on the unit to make sure it responds. Let us know if you find any new commands.

Hey, That worked! I was able to see the IR codes. However, when I imported the ccf file into the MX800 editor, using the Universal Browser, I do see the numeric buttons, grouped in panels of 25 buttons each. I then dragged and dropped each of these buttons to "learn" the code. Downloded to the remote and spent 30 minutes testing each of the 256 codes. None worked. Not even one. After another 30 minutes or so to try a;ll codes again, only slower, nothing. Which leads me to ask, should I try another nec device file thru MakeHex? There is a nec2.irp, and also a necx.irp. How is it determined that the momitsu uses nec codes? I don't want to seem rude, just want to learn. Thanks.
