I've had the same experience with it, too many failures, all HDMI related, one component. Forget that skeezin ho!

Recently my only use for them has been the 609 for budget systems, and then I'd jump between Denon and Marantz.

Now I'm learning towards Denon primarily and some Marantz when needed like the 1402 and their seperates. I just bid a project where both the 3312 and the 6006 fit the bill. After going over the two, the Denon is a better unit for $100 less to the customer.

I just did a glorified hang and bang where the customer had a new Yamaha and I have to say, after getting used to the menu it wasn't bad at all.

My thing with Denon is that I pass my local distributor over the course of a month about 3 times in my normal travels so its easy to deal with.

Is Integra actually different (better made) or does it just have more make-up and a different dress?

At this point it doesn't matter.
The problems are the same!

Anything goes when it comes to hos. Pimpin aint easy.

The Denon 1912 does just about the same thing minus the VGA input, price isn't whored out nearly as much and hasn't given me any problems.

I have had HDMI issues on the 609 and lower Onkyo. Anything above the 609 we go to Integra. The only issues I have had with Integra were the faulty ribbon cable on the .2 series. Which I think the .2 series was only around for 3-4 months before it changed to the .3.

I refuse to do another Denon or Marantz. You want to talk about quality control issues!! Denons was great to use for 20 years, and IMO their quality went down over the last couple years. We switched to Integra, and the only issues I have had were two units with the ribbon cable issues on the .2 series.

The difference between Marantz and Denon at this point is price, style, and a few details between the models, other than that they are the same down to the set up menu.

The only main difference for me today is than Denon 3312s are back ordered until October and Marantz 6006s are in stock.

A friend who designs speakers, GOOD ONES, for a living says that the Integra units sound better than, frinstance, my go-to, Yamaha.

Of course, Yamaha itself is controversial for some reason among people who don't criticize its sound. I never understood that.

..So the sound quality in your friend's opinion (on Yamaha) doesn't quite stack up?

I have A-B'd Yamaha vs Denon and my clients usually pick Denon.

Denon may not be a Kama Sutra kinda gal with a thousand positions but I was always suspicious of how Onkyo knew some of her tricks.

Stick to Denon. It's always missionary position but it's better than nothing.

I can count on one hand how many Onkyo receivers my branch has had to take back in the 1.5 years of selling the brand. On the other hand the brand that starts with a D we have taken back countless units because of HDMI and DOB units.

OK I'll bite...how many units were sold of each brand in that 1.5 years? I've never even touched an Onkyo, always assumed it was in the league of Kenwood and the likes for some reason. I started installing Denon AVR's back in 1997 and have never had a DOA or any HDMI issues. Off the top of my head we had one that had a bad subwoofer jack out of the box (could have been installer error too knowing who was hooking it up) and maybe 5 total failures in those 14 years. Of course my sampling is likely smaller (in the 150 unit range) than yours coming from distribution.
