I don’t have a ROKU handy at the moment. This might lead to something useful.

Thanks, That may be a winner...... They have to be loaded but that is OK.

That is from 2014, yes private channels had codes, but not official channels. And they get rid of private channels about a year ago.

I've never come across an engineer that doesn't tell you they're an engineer.  This one just took longer than normal to tell us.

Retired Engineer please, and it is true we do, but only when folks imply we are stupid. I have been retired for 15 years, so my brain has most likely gone to mush ... But, It made me a very good living while it lasted allowing me to FIRE at a earlier than normal age.

Update, I tried an ONN Remote that they had at a local Walmart as it was in stock, however it was not the one that Edmund originally recommended, and it did not recognize the 994 code for key programming. I returned it.

I ordered this one as recommended online and will have to wait till next week to do more testing.

Thanks again Edmund.

It's not just engineers. This is a risk for anyone who is proud of their specialty. Too many feel that it gives them a leg up on any technical issue. I deal with my share of arrogant electricians who seem to know everything about everything -- except how to make stable low voltage connections and how to avoid nicking the wires in network cables.

I had one experience that was laughable, but I managed to restrain my giggle. I had just finished repairing his receiver. There was a known issue with a power supply regulator and some bad PC board connections. It was a very straight forward repair and there was a manufacturer's bulletin. As he picked up the unit he asked a reasonable question: "What was done?" I explained and he challenged me with "I'm an electrical engineer and you should have replaced the IC" as he stormed out. There were no IC's on that power supply board. One symptom was the FM tuning meter was pinned off center. Yes, there was an IC involved (on another PC board) there, but it could not function if half of its power supply was missing.

Edmund:

I got the correct remote and programmed the numbers as you instructed. It responded and accepted the 994 program code. Unfortunately, none of the app codes in the list you provided work.

Is there a terminating number or key, kind of like a return, or OK? I tried OK, but it just jumps to the first app in the list with or without a code.

I have not programmed the 880 yet, but it should work by just pressing the correct sequence of numbers that correspond to the APP I guess.

Any Ideas.

First of all the Onn remote is IR only, meaning it needs a line of sight from the remote to the front of the Roku.

Second, the device on the Onn 6 remote that will be programmed for the Roku, has to have setup code 3061 programmed to it before the efc's I listed will work.

1. Streamer device
2. press and hold SETUP for two blinks, release
3. enter 3 0 6 1

Now try codes.

I know that. And it is programmed correctly. I went through the complete setup again on 2 devices just to be sure.

All buttons work according to their corresponding buttons on the actual Roku remote. However, the number sequences do not jump to the channels. There are 3 buttons on the ONN remote that jump to Prime Video, Hulu and Netflix.

I tried lots of app codes, but none respond. The only thing I can think of is the channel numbers have completely changed on the Roku Ultra.

I am probably stuck with my original Right and Down positioning Macros

I Finally figured what these instructions allow one to do.

It ONLY works in Live TV mode, but NOT from the home menu to select a channel.

If one is in the live TV menu. If you hit 524 followed by enter, it will jump to that Live TV Channel.

Not so in the HOME menu when trying to jump to an installed ROKU App/Channel. Probably because they do not publish the direct codes and no matter where I look, I cannot find any that work but entering the number keys from the Home Screen. Even with the channel numbers reported by the Roku Ultra itself using the URL from an early post.

Unfortunately, that is not what I need. I do not watch Roku Live TV channels, 1 they are NOT really live anyway. I have an Antenna for that.

Oh! Well ....... :(

I honestly do not think what I am looking for exists fro Roku.

I cannot find anything on the Internet about programming codes that work to jump directly to an Installed Roku App/Channel. like the pre-programmed channel buttons do for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc.

I really only need a few.

PBS, Haystack News, CBS News, Bloomberg, Youtube, AlJazeera, Roku Media Player and the Roku Channel.

I think I will return the ONN Remote I purchased as it is of no value anymore, now I have a couple of devices programmed in my 880.

You are correct. There are only a few codes that will open specific Roku apps. The apps that you are using do not have specific codes EXCEPT for Roku Channel & You Tube.

HEX code for The Roku Channel:

To add the hex code in CCP:
Use the Universal Browser in the ccp (located under the Tools tab), copy hex from here, paste to the hex editor, then drag and drop to a key.
