Joe, answers to your questions....

1. Input and Output CCF should not be the same file. You can run into major problems. See my previous response to your question about SNL Lists and Device Name conflicts on page #5 of this thread.

2. Read Response by b00bie on 01/31/03 18:26 (page 5 of this thread) to your original question. If you still can't figure it out, Read the Release Notes section on Basic and Advanced Icon Support. Exact requirements for BMP_Override, Color_Override folder names with examples were provided there. If you still are having problems, please shoot me an email describing in extreme detail the problem you would like to solve.

3. You cannot define for example, 30 movie jacket picture buttons for example and have them linked to a particular page in a List that contains tracks for a Disc.

What you are attempting to do here is not supported and is a feature that is not provided. Having this functionality requires that you set both Input and Output CCFs to the same filename. However, when you add a Disc/Artist the panel names change. You will always be forced to re-edit the CCF following 'Execute' to link things back up.

The best that you can do with SNL is to create buttons inside a Device Panel that you want modified during 'Execute' to force a Jump to the starting page for your List. This is done via 'Links to this List' in the 'Edit Disc' dialog.

FYI, this scenario is also not on the radar screen as a future enhancement.

Have a look at Bruce Hartley's userquide and tool's for Mp3. [Link: seahunt.co.uk]

It's a great tool. I'm using it with WinAmp and Irman, controlled by a Pronto RU-940

Looking for an enhancement to SuperNudeList Release 2.0.0.3 to allow for selection of tracks from multiple albums on a single disc for use with MP3's and Sony CX875P DVD/CD Changer.

I'm currently using the following level for the lists, Artist->Discs->Track and using a genre name ( Blues, Rock, Pop etc) for each list.

What I would like to do is add an additional album number selection between Disc->Track

This would not change the panel definition or navigation, but would need to action the Album number before the Track number.

Perhaps an easy way to do this would be to add two more action mapping buttons to the player:

Before Album, After Album

The track number could have an extended format of Album#-Track# (2-1) which would expand the action sequence to :

Before Album
Album #
After Album
Before Track ( 1 or 2 Digits)
Track#
After Track ( 1 or 2 Digits)

If track#'s have been selected for display, only the track# would need to be displayed in the panel.

Extending the track number format would minimize any changes required for CSV and XML import, export and would not impair existing configurations.

Hopefully this makes sense and would be a useful extension for supporting MP3 formats with multiple albums per disc.

Regards,

Paul Hughes

Paul,

There are several users who catalog MP3s who may be able to offer additional suggestions. I believe that their applications are all PC based and do not rely solely on a CD Changer such as the 875. See the above post by 2re (Tore) as well as others in this thread for references to Bruce Hartley's tools.

I presume that the 875 supports the concept of 'logical albums' on a single disc, selectable by IR. I don't know this to be true as I don't have an 875 or access to one.

If the 'Delay disc until Track Selection' option will not work for you, then we must resort to other measures.

Your suggestion for adding entries to the SNL Player is along the right lines but is not the whole story. The Edit Lists dialog would also have to change, that is, unless you can live with having separate "Discs" entries for each album. The side effect to this would be that you would have 'Duplicate' discs reported when reports are run. FYI, the Kenwood changers don't support the "multiple albums on a single CDROM" concept.

SNL never intended to support the concept of having a disc selectable by both Artist and Genre. Officially, your applied use falls in the unsupported category. However, as the new "megachangers" hit the streets, it may have to be augemented to support such functionality.

Unfortunately, I cannot honor your enhancement request at this time as it is a significant change that I have no way of testing prior to release. Also, my current "real job" work schedule currently will not allow for it.

Very Important

In order to do an enhancement such as this, I must have an 875 in front of me for testing. Unfortunately, the donations for SNL have not been anywhere near enough (less than $150USD ) for me to afford the 875. Until I own an 875, this change will not occur.

So, I have been using SuperNudelist over the past two years (what a great utility), however, I had a bad day on the computer and lost a huge number of files. One of them being the XML file for my CD changer SuperNudelist file. In any event, I have my latest CCF file and an old txt file that I had used before I realized you could just edit and update within SNL. In any event, is there any way to extract the lists from my latest CCF file or am I doomed to using my old txt file and filling in the blanks from there? Btw, I know, I know I should have backed up the hard drive. Ugh. Thanks for all of your help and thanks for resurrecting support of this wonderful utility.

This question has been answered before. See discussion involving user traxx.

Unfortunately, you are S.O.L.

Hopefully you don't have too many discs to re-enter or you have another source of data that you could use to import into SNL.

FYI, I lost my configuration recently in doing some testing for an upcoming release. Very fortunate for me, the week before, I had exported my Lists in XML format to a file on another hard drive. I had my backup. Sounds like you were less fortunate.

Lyndel,
I'm trying to build support for controlling MP3 servers through Prontos and SNL. In order to do this, I'd like to be able to add a file name as an attribute to your "Disc" tag in sn_library.xml. Do you have any philosophical problems with people adding attributes to the tags in this file?

Will SNL strip out attributes it doesn't recognize?

If you'd like to consider adding support for this attribute in your disc details dialog, that would be, of course, many times cooler!

Thanks,

Brian McGee

Brian,

SNL will strip out any unknown attributes. You should read back through this thread as there was another user who was attempting something similar. When you find the person, shoot them an email as I have not heard any response on how he ended up.

Did you check out Bruce Hartley's site? See earlier post by 2re (Tore).

BTW, money helps make the world go round.

Lyndel,

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I know how to do it, I was just wondering if my idea flanged with something in which you had an interest.

I appreciate your frankness in regards to money. I'll make you a deal -- I'll give you the first $100 that I get as the result of my project.

Thanks,

Brian

Brian,

I'm in the middle of wrapping up some things for an upcoming release. I'll look into adding a user-defined text field as an attribute on the Disc. My initial sentiment would be that this attribute would NOT be supported for Export/Import of the CSV file format. It would be entered through XML and lost forever if a CSV file is imported.

Drop me an email with your thoughts on this functionality.

Paul Hughes, WHERE ARE YOU.

I emailed you @ the address on your profile as I'm currently working on Album support for the CX455 and I would like feedback as to how it is handled on the CX875.

Please email me with a current address or reply to the email I recently sent.

Thanks,
Lyndel

I've downloaded SuperNudeList from the files section but the documentation mentioned on this thread is not in the zip file. I've checked Leo's web site but only found old doc and searced this thread. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Brian McGee,

I'm the "other" person Lyndel mentioned who was trying to build MP3 support onto SNL. I'd be happy to share my progress with you and to see if we're even using the same approach.

Lyndel - Sorry I stopped responding to your emails, I've been busy traveling for work. Which hasn't left me much time to work on this project...

Arby,

Doc is short for documentation and does in no way imply that there is a MS Word "Document" involved. I do believe that you should re-examine the zip file you downloaded as there is HTML documentation in that zip.

If you can't find it then you should download again as it was supplied in the zip.

The documentation is in the way of release notes and does not contain a Jump-Start document that has been mentioned in this thread. As SNL has been changing recently, any screen shots that I would have put into this document will soon be outdated.

As far as help goes, I would suggest reading this thread from start to finish. Around page 4 or so, I started putting Tips in Bold.

Roopesh,

Welcome back. Brian's request has been provided in the next release. Basically, he wanted to associate "User Data" with a disc in the SN_Library.xml configuration file. I did 3 times better. The next version will support "User Data" for List, Artist, Disc, and Track.
