Logitech Releases Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3
New adapter for Harmony owners offers easy control of PS3 systems.

RC News Story
In what appears to be a month of PlayStation 3-related news, Logitech has formally announced their Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 – an infrared to Bluetooth converter that allows any Harmony remote to more easily control the PlayStation 3 game console. The Harmony Adapter is now the sixth such product on the market.

Priced at $59.95 USD MSRP, the adapter is one of the least expensive available, however it’s also intended primarily for existing Harmony remote control owners – the phrase “it is NOT designed for use with other remote controls” even appears in the official blog posting. The adapter supports a full 51 functions, just like the official Sony PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Remote Control does. This is compared to the 14 or so functions supported by less expensive infrared-to-USB adapters.

The adapter is powered by an included AC supply. Physical features include a [Connect] button on the bottom for easy console pairing, a status LED on top, plus a 2.5mm infrared input jack on the back (for connecting to RF extenders). Overall it has a rather sleek and stylish gloss black design, intended to blend in with any A/V system.

Considering that Logitech is quite well established in game accessories as well as the ever-popular Harmony remote control lineup, it’s not at all surprising that they’ve developed a product such as this – but it is just a little curious that it’s taken this long to come out!

The Harmony Adapter for PlayStation 3 is expected to be available within the next a few weeks for North America consumers, and later in July for Europe (€59.99). More information can be found on Logitech's site.

I picked up a nyko IR remote for the ps3 a couple years ago and simply taught my harmony remote with it. Works great. Certainly cheaper.
Just installed one and it works very well. A little interference but overall quite nice.
