Exactly what the title says. The response to standard commands like volume is sluggish and unresponsive. It doesnt seem to be IR adjustment because the codes dont even seem to be reaching the processor 1/2 of the time.

I tried the firmware but it wouldnt let me update. It said I needed to follow the rules on screen....I was. Off-USB-OK hold-ON-5 seconds-next-

Any ideas?

Haven't seen that one.

The sending of commands from remote to XP8 has been rock solid for me, I'm getting several hundred feet of range for that. Getting info from XP8 to Remote has had limited range... VERY limited.

Did you follow the procedure for setting up the ZM24?

Haven't had any issues updating firmware. I've done a XP8's, T2C's, T3V's and RK3's.

For me zigbee is touch and go. So much that I'm going back to 433.

Make sure you have firmware updated, and follow the zigbee protocol for locating the antenna. The best place might not be where you think it should be.

Everything I read in the manual said no extra configs are required. I will review the antenna placement. I am only about 8-15 feet away from the gear/antenna. It is connected to the Rti com port. I was able to trick it into a firmware update.

Forgot to mention, this is a ZRP6.

This is from the manual. Missed this lil tid bit.

"ZM-24 modules should be placed at least 3 feet (1m) from electronic components and at least 8 feet (2.5m) from 2.4GHz wireless access points or cordless phone systems."

As of now, the ZM24 is on next to the receiver on the opposite wall from a Linksys router and Panasonic kxtd7896. Oops. Lets hope this is the problem. I will try to find a better spot for it tomorrow and report back on progress. Hope this helps someone else out in the future.

Thanks!

Corey

the zm24 placement WILL make a huge difference.

I actually posted a thorough response to you right after you posted, but apparently the damn thing didn't show up.

Check for drivers that are assigned to the wrong port, 2-way drivers that are installed but the equipment is not yet connected, etc.

Tried out a few spots. Found one that works maybe 90%. It felt like the old days of URC press and pray during the demo. Some codes come up to 3-4 seconds late if at all.

Unplugging wireless router helped too but still wasn't perfect.

Well I am setting up a XP8, T2C amd T3V system currently... I have the same wierd issue with communication... (like my Nevo system)... I am pre-building the system... My issues are that the signal is transmission works intermittently and I cannot get the two-way to work... I have gone through everything as well. I will say one thing... HOW DO you do a firmware update.. I followed the intructions and system designer as well pretty much told me I was an idiot... It actually states to push the "select" button... Good to know I am not the only one... Oh well looks like another buzy weekend...
fall down seven times... stand up eight!!!

I was sooo happy to get my XP8 and T2-C (ZB) yesterday. I installed everything, did the update, put the check marks in. And switched everything form the RP-1 to the XP8. I got the two way weather screens working, got my relays and voltage triggers working. Everything was going fine.

I then tried to watch a movie, all the macro's were working the way i wanted to. A few minutes into the movie there were several large explosions and i wanted to turn the volume down. Except the remote wouldn't wake up out of ZB standby quick enough.

I'm gonna guess that's the problem, because i put time and date on all the T2-C pages, i couldnt change the volume of the theater room when the date/time wasn't showing up. Some times it would take several mins. I'd put the remote down, pick it up, no volume. I'd wait 5 mins, pick it up, no volume, wait half a sec, then the volume would work. It was very very unpredictable.

Although i haven't been using RTI products for very long i have been able to do some amazing stuff. I don't shy away from challenges and im really good at making templates and pretty pictures with photoshop :)

I am going to relocate the antenna with a temporary cable and see if it improves the response time. But if it doesn't improve i'm not happy and i know my customers won't be either.

I understand that touch panels use ethernet for two way and i probably wouldn't see this problem, which is fine. (That's the next big project is to install some TPs around the house). I kept hearing it would take 'seconds' to wake from standby and connect with the ZB network. That is not the case.

For those of you that are thinking about switching to ZB, if you aren't gonna be using any two way drivers on TPs i would recommend holding off for the time being. I will let you guys know what happens when i move the antenna but the 433 is a much more responsive system.

Client called hating it today. This is the first time RTI has made me look bad. Time to swap out for 433. I guess I now own a zigbee T2C and ZM24.

I'm sure happy to let everyone else test ZB while I watch from the sidelines. Yuk.

JJW, in my reading it has been recommended that volume be IR to make it instantaneously responsive (unlike ZB)? Does that make any sense?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Very few of our installs have the audio equipment in line of sight of the remote. I know i can route the IR to the racks... But if im gonna do that, i might as well use a Harmony... hahahaha, okies i fell outta my chair after i said that..

I was hoping for a solid solution from the ZB. The problem with my theater is that it has tiered seating and although i usually sit in the back the seats in the front block the IR path. I already thought of it, but its not a solution that i am will to accept.
