First let me say I've learned more about the universal remote world here on these forums than anywhere else over the years, thanks to all you expert contributors.

I recently purchased a Bose Lifestyle 35 (same as Lifestyle 28 but with micro cubes) and an RM-AV3000 to control it. I have the Bose system configured to accept IR (standard is RF which is no good of course) and also send IR which is supposed to let you learn the necessary commands. Here are my questions:

1) The first time through the learning process (I was unable to find a preset) I was able to learn all of the input keys and volume controls under my amp key, no problem (although the volume keys would not repeat which sucked...yes, I had held the keys down until I got a beep). Then I moved on to learn the DVD functions and when I got to rewind I kept getting NG's. Now here's the crazy part...I can't learn anything any more from the bose system. I have gone back to the AMP key and deleted all learned funtions (one at a time) and then have attempted to re-learn everything that worked before. Does anyone have any experience with this Bose System that might help?

It sounds like you have learned a “dirty” command. This happens sometimes, and freezes up the remote so it won’t learn anything, just as yours did. Clear the component key (not one key at a time, but as follows; for good luck, do it twice) and try again. Sometimes it will not happen again so you can learn all the commands, but sometimes it will. If it does it again, note which Bose key caused it, and stay away from that key.

Commander off/Muting
Set
Reset
Compo
Press the component key you want to clear (AMP)
Yes
Hold Commander off until the remote turns off

If the volume keys repeated on the original remote (which I know they did), then they should repeat on the 3000.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately even after reseting the component only and the entire remote I still can't seem to learn anything from this bose system. I'm beginning to think it's a problem with the bose system. I'm going to try to dig up an old learning remote I have around here somewhere and see if it can see anything.

Are you saying you have learned all the commands you need from the Bose system on other parts of the Bose, except for the DVD portion, which is giving you problems? I am no longer to learn anything from the Bose system...even buttons I was able to read before no longer learn. I tried learning from the Bose with my tried and true 15-1994 and it couldn't learn anything either. Since the 3000 and 15-1994 can learn from each other either I'm now certain it's something haywire in the Bose System. I'm going to try a master reset on the Bose and then see. I'll let you know. I just bought RM-AV3000 today but I can't make it to work with my LS35. Do you have any luck with it? Please let me know if you can make it to work.

Tris-Did you check out the threads shown above? The 3000 will work with the LS35. You need to be sure your LS35 is set for IR, and hold the 3000 in front of the LS35 (not the remote) to receive commands. There are no preset codes for Bose, so you will have to learn everything.

I just set up my 3000 with an LS28 which is the same base unit as the LS35. I had no problems; you do need to follow the advice of all the previous repliers. Set the base unit to send and receive IR and then set the AV3000 to learn. When you press the button you want to learn make sure you have the Bose remote in the other hand and press the button you want learned once or twice. The little light on the bottom right of the bose unit will light up and make sure the AV3000 is directly in front of the unit. About 2-4 inches and just slightly left of dead center seems to work the best. I had no problems with any of the functions. Good luck

I agree with edmund, but I would like to caution halps on pressing the button on the Bose remote "once or twice". With the long learning time of the 3000, you could get duplicate commands on the same key (like a little micro-macro), which could cause problems, especially if you were to use that key in a real macro.

Can I assume that with the Bose RF settings like you have suggested in this thread (receive/send both ON) that ANY programmable/learning remote should be able to control the Bose Lifestyle series if properly "taught"?

Yes, any learning remote can be used. The IR codes from the Bose are the same as any other IR codes you would normally encounter. As long as the Bose is set correctly, and you hold the learning remote in front of the Bose receiver (not opposite the Bose remote) you should not have any problem.

i am trying to learn the bose codes on my kameleon remote control but i can not do it... i put my kameleon in front of the unit and i follow the steps but i have not luck.... do you have any tips????
