Hey guys I need a little help. Does anyone have or know where I can get the discrete codes for the Panasonic PT-AE1000U? The ones I am looking for are the inputs (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Component 1 and 2, etc.)

Thanks Springs. I will try them when I get home from out of town. On this AE1000U, the remote has 3 function keys that you can use that coordinate with 3 function settings on the AE1000U menu screen. You can set the functions on the menu to HDMI 1/2, Comp 1/2, etc and use the function keys on the remote to switch to those inputs. I figure if you can discretely select those inputs on the function screen, there should be discrete codes for each.

john generated those codes to try to help me with an install. It was for the 100 and I have not been back there to check them. I used a variable to keep track of the status... I HATE NOT HAVING A DISCRETE ON OFF!

How do you generate codes? I would be interested in increasing my knowledge about remote code generation.

Read this thread and also extract the panasonic2.irp file from it, because I haven't released a new version of makehex.zip since then:

Get Makehex.zip from
[Link: john.fine.home.comcast.net]

Read the readme file inside that .zip file.

Springs or johnsfine, quick question, do you have to test out each function in the generated hex file from makehex to determine which does what? Or is there a list somewhere of what are the usual function numbers?

In some cases you will need to test all functions...Easy ways and hard ways to do.
Easy way is with a pronto remote and IRpanels, hard way is copy and paste then test on remote of your choice...this is how I do it...Make me mad that I sold my pronto weeks before I started using makehex

another way is if you have the documentation from the manufacturer that lists out the command numbers for you

1=1
2=2
3=3
.
.
.
174 = ON

those were just examples, but a list is helpful

I'd like to get in on this conversation. I just installed a PT-AE1000U and although I love the picture I'm frustrated by not being able to find dicrete on and off. As well I'd like to know how I can switch inputs directly without having to go through the list. I use a Pronto TSU3000. I noticed in the thread a comment about using a variable to track the status of say on or off. I have never done this so any help on this would be great.

Thanks

OZ posted these codes...

I nominate you to try them

I was given these discreets as Panasonic 'Power On' and 'power Off', they DO work with the Panasonic PT-AE1000E, so hopefully they will get you out of trouble.

Just to bump, I have done several ae1000u projectors, using an AV reciever for HDMI switching.(to get around the no discrete input situation) Did this 3 function button work for setting up 3 discrete input codes?

I am putting in the ae2000u next week and wondered if the on/off discretes posted earlier in this thread have been tested for this unit?

I still do not understand Panasonic putting out a projector with no discretes WTF?

I have just finished programming my Marantz 5000i for my PT-AE1000U.

I used Pronto IR Utilities, by DRG to generate all 256 possible codes for panasonic2 128.72 (I had to manually modify the panasonic string definitions for this new panasonic2 code set.). I then loaded this file into my remote using Tonto, by Stewert Allen and tried all combinations. I can confirm that 62 and 63 work for On and Off. I could not find any discretes for selecting a unique input. Therefore I programed the projector to use function keys to select unique inputs. From there you can program a sequence of an appropriate number of input commands separated by 100msec delays to get to the other inputs.

Note that to turn the projector off you need to program the sequence: Off, delay 100 msec, and Enter.

There are a few other useful discrete commands, and when I get a little time I will post a CCF file with them all, plus my macros, probably in a couple weeks.

Good luck,

Thanks for the suggestion for an alternative to a discrete off. It worked perfectly. I really would be interested in that CCF file.

I can verify the discrete on/off work for the AE1000u. Relative to input codes i did have some luck with input codes for a Panisonic PL-AE900U. The problem is I tried this using an MX-810 remote and there is no way to get the codes out of this thing. The 810 was able to provide codes for Component and HDMI, so you could siwtch between these and if you pushed the HDMI button it would cycle throught he HDMI inputs... I will try the function key on the projector remote and then learn this to my pronto. If it works I will upload these codes.
