Anyone have any experience yet with the new X1 DVR from Comcast? It ships with an RF remote, but apparently the box supports IR as well. The codeset seems to have changed, though, since it does not react to the old box's IR remote.

Just came across our first X1 box yesterday - can anyone identify an existing IR code set that runs this thing? Or is someone willing to post their learned commands?

the codes are in the URC database listed under Xfinity.  URC had some issues making this codeset work.  They were actually in contact with comcast to sort it out.

Be prepared to doctor each button/code. Undo repeat while pressed and set repeats to 1 or you will get amazing repeats. Not too many Comcast channels with 6 digits. Or skip up the guide about 4 channels with one arrow up.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Agreed. I had to adjust EVERY code to a single repeat.

Watch the emitter pattern from the Comcast remote and duplicate. I programmed an X1 on an MX-980. First one took a lot of time to program because every default code in the database caused multiple commands resulting in repeating channels numbers ... etc.

Also the installer had to replace at least (2) bad boxes out of (5).

Can someone post a couple of codes that work so we can crack this open?

Codes in current URC data work great without any editing.

I agree since URC came up with fix I have had absolutely NO issues with X1 boxes, I use 780 980 890 remotes. Make sure you select the right code set for how you are trying to control the box IR, RF, IP.

Comcast Xfinity URC codes for the X1 worked great for me. No modifications required. Have used the MX880, 900, 980, and ios.

Can anyone whether these X1 (either Pace or Arris) can be controlled over IP? If memory serves, the box has a network port.

I would typically NEVER advocate network control in this scenario - but we are at the end of our #!@$(Y!^%& rope with a recent project.

The symptom is: when tapping the cursor up/down/left/right (e.g., when in guide mode), the X1 box will often open up the “channel entry guide” and enter a digit (typically, “2” but sometimes 0 or 5).

The control system is an RTI T2x, XP6 and ZM24 antenna (have also tried the RM433 antenna).

We've gone through umpteen programming iterations; have used a variety of IR code sets (most recently, from hex codes given to us by Comcast CXI support), setting min repeat to 0, disabling sustain; replaced the box (twice!), confirmed the RF environment is clean (they're in the suburbs, the 2.4 RF is very clean), moved the emitter around, lowered the emitter power at XP6, to near minimum.

So I'm at the end of my rope, and faced with three options (if there's others, please let me know by all means!)
- try IP control of the blasted Comcast box
- replace RTI system with something else (procontrol, or URC)
- convince customer to replace with TIVO (will be a difficult sell, as he has not only the main hub but also three satellites; and if I can avoid it I'd rather not add cablecard complications to the mix)

fwiw, the really perplexing thing is that we've done at least ONE OTHER INSTALL with this same setup (same X1 box, same RTI control system, same codeset) - and the issue is NOT manifesting there.
