Newbie, please don't let the "Guilty until proven innocent" attitudes here discourage you; it's just that about half of the installation jobs most of us get are fixing other people's f*^k ups, so some of us are a bit biased.

If you're sincere about your efforts and are willing to put in the time, I welcome you and wish you all the best.

As for you other guys, don'tcha think you're being a little hard on the Beaver? We should be encouraging new blood, not chasing it away.

P.S. As anyone who read my post about two weeks ago knows, I have no great love for CEDIA myself; but I wouldn't expect someone new to the industry to know any better.

I know i could
go into any home and wire , setup and have it humming
no problem.

Well, that's pretty much the problem. Not only would you have it humming in no time, you probably wouldn't know how to fix it so that it wouldn't hum.

Just using that expression shows you have no clue about the audio end of things, not in the real world.

I also would be loath to hire you now that you have expressed that you want to work long enought to leave and start your own business. You've got a problem: you have to keep quiet about that, lying by omission to prospective employers, to get some experience! Who would want to hire you if they knew that? Maybe you should look into what it takes to actually run a business; if you were to change your objective to becoming the world's best damn installer and designer, you would be able to honestly say that to an employer.

I like his comment "it was just a bunch of electrical
stuff". Like that stuff doesn't matter.

Well, to an IT guy, electrical is an SEP: Somebody Else's Problem. Again, he lacks the knowledge that he needs to know about electrical, because he is going to have to tell electricians how to do things so that the A/V stuff works properly. You know, so it doesn't HUM.....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

No i wouldnt know to check to make sure the inputs are grounded, or make sure cables arent close to flourescent fixtures, or a crappy amp or possible RF interference, make sure cables arent running parallel to electrical work at a certian distance or that they cross only at certain angles and limited times, things of that nature at all your right.

ernie is smarter and more experienced than 3 or 4 of us put together.... ernie has forgotten more about custom than most people will learn in 2 lifetimes.

so i think your picking a fight with the wrong person?

I'll give you a hint. The problem is likely related to the first thing you said, but all the equipment is grounded.

i know your all very experienced and i am the new guy who knows nothing
i think we covered that, now if anyone and a few guys have, has any help or positive suggestions then please post them to help the new kid out. The rest can go back to sitting up on their throwns and can continue to look down on people. And forget what it was like when you were new and im sure someone gave you a break.

You spelled "thrones" wrong. Does that help?

I just remembered the term being used before and did a search on it. ceied's prior use in that post is the only time it has been used and it was used in the same context.
