Hi, Looking for some feedback on a new Pro-sumer remote control design.
SmartRemote is a client to Allonis's myServer 6 automation controller. Can be used concurrently with any browser based device to connect to same controller. ie: iPhone, Android phone, tablets, PCs, Samsung refrigerators, etc.

We will launch it initially in a Kickstarter. Packages of SmartRemote and myServer 6 hardware / software / device licenses.

Some initial feedback has been received on AVSForum that we have implemented and it was suggested that we also post on RemoteCentral for more feedback.

The Kickstarter is expected to launch in a month or so and myServer 6 will then be available right after the close of the campaign.  SmartRemote production units will be ordered with all feedback considered at the close of the campaign with delivery a couple months later.

myServer 6 can integrate with many other automation platforms via NodeRed, custom APIs, MQTT etc. which then exposes SmartRemote for usage with other systems.

All buttons and user interfaces are completely customizable for function and touchscreen look and function using the myDesigner 6 drag and drop application.

Local Voice services (no Internet or Big Brother required) will be available shortly after launch with optional cloud based integrations later.

Pricing will be "more than Harmony, less than custom automation system remotes".  Tell us your thoughts.

I haven't told you too much as looking for your feedback on "the perfect remote control".

Here is a pic of an existing real SmartRemote managing a HEOS player.  Sonos is similar (just one of many examples).  The hard buttons are photoshop as we are looking for your feedback before building them in hardware.

Historically menu, guide, options, etc... are around the navigation buttons (cursor keys). I don't see any of those buttons anywhere on the remote.

You mentioned 'device licenses'. Could you elaborate on that?

What kind of control ports will "myServer 6 automation controller" have? IR, RS232, contact closure? Obviously IP is one of the options.

On the bottom left is the "Hamburger" icon which is an industry standard icon for Menu. The Touchscreen has secondary soft buttons for things like Guide (which optionally appears on the touchscreen via our TVGuide service - not just on the TV). You can click the Hamburger icon, and then the touchscreen shows you your menu of user interfaces available for things like the TVGuide app, irrigation app, floorplan view ("Home"), Media, and a zillion other possibilities. The Menu is 100% customizable so it can be whatever you want it to be.

You can then navigate the menu with either a finger scroll of the menu list followed by a click to select, or via the hard button up / down / enter keys to launch the next screen page you selected.

But, if you use the Guide a lot, you can program any button to launch the Guide. For example, a Long press of the Menu button might bring up the Guide (your choice).

Since we have an IP bidirectional integration with DirecTV and IR integration with most all cable boxes, and an IP integration with DISH as a work in progress, we can also launch the Guide on the TV you are watching. But the on tablet / phone / smartremote optional TVGuide app is very popular with our commercial projects (like 95%).

Device licenses: myServer 6 is an existing commercial automation controller. Used in many commercial projects like Sports Bars, Restaurants, convention centers, conference rooms, command centers etc. Devices are things like Lights, AVMatrix outputs, TVs, User interfaces etc. Each consumes a device license. Device licenses are purchased in bulk. Basically, the larger the system, the more the number of licenses required, the more cost. Small systems are inexpensive, large systems are less expensive than other commercial offerings of similar capability.

myServer 6 supports all of the connection methods you cite plus many more. USB, serial, IR, relays, IP devices, powerline, WiFi, bluetooth, RF, ZWave, Zigbee, and on and on. That's really going to be the magic of the SmartRemote...most of the really hard work is done as myServer 6 is the heart and the heart is proven and always expanding.

The SmartRemote is "just" a user interface device to our myServer 6 automation controller. myServer has a built in web server. Touchscreen user interfaces use a browser to display those webpages.

So, if you are asking "can I use a PC to control my system using myServer..." then yes, absolutely. Via Chrome browser (as example) or Safari (if on a Mac).
But this isn't really related to "SmartRemote" hardware (for clarification).

There will be web "templates" available that are designed specifically for the SmartRemote small browser touchscreen. This is smaller than a smartphone. We have smartphone and Tablet intended templates now. And, an end user can create their own templates using our Drag and Drop myDesigner 6 software (runs on Windows and network connects to myServer 6). Once designed, your templates can be used on most any modern browser equipped device.

Allonis continues to develop the software that supports the SmartRemote as we deliver our systems to today's client projects. The technologies generally work for all user interface devices. For example, this week we enhanced our "myUI.apk" app that runs on Android. This week we implemented that on FireTV sticks so that we can use the FireTV powerful 4K rendering capability for our Content Management system. On the condo project, we are displaying Live TV (HDMI source) within a custom browser where we have Weather and a Ticker text overlay that is being used in a 30 floor condominium project displaying the custom webpage on dumb modulated TVs.

The same myUI.apk is also be used on the SmartRemote to support the touchscreen browser. Same .apk will also "transport" the hard button actions and voice commands to myServer 6.

We have already received many people interested in getting notified about SmartRemote availability via our "Reservation" webpage on our website. I will be creating a webpage that tracks progress of SmartRemotes availability and updates in two weeks. Best would be for you to fill that out as our initial hardware is pretty much sold out if all those that already placed reservations actually purchase once available. We already have the SmartRemote hardware in stock ready for our software updates.

This week I will be traveling to our "Guy Fieri's Downtown Flavortown" project in Pigeon Forge Tenn to add our Content Management system to our elaborate project that just opened last week (QSC audio, 9 universes of DMX lighting, HDBaseT video distribution, etc). The myUI.apk is part of that system (like many others). My Fam will enjoy Flavortown's arcade, bowling and restaurant.
