I'm mainly looking between Goldstar (LG), Samsung and Hisense mid to high end for a new TV, but the problem I'm having I use a URC MX900 learning remote for all my equipment and most of these sets seem to have RF (Bluetooth) based remotes making them useless to me as I don't want a coffee table of different remotes in front of me.

I can't be the only one who has a setup this way (IR programmable remote for everything).

I know some sets will work with other remotes that didn't come wit the set and I'm wondering if anyone knows if any of these sets will work with one of their IR remotes from their less expensive lines?

I could care less about "Wands" that one waves around and even less for something one 'talks to'.

Hope that all make sense as the choices these manufactures have made don't.

I should of added that Hisense does have at least some sets that use IR, but it's unclear exactly which ones as their 'manual' is a 'one fit for all' type. Goldstar & Samsung seem to be just RF (the ones supplied with the set).

Sony still has full IR support. And an actual IR-in jack on the back of most sets, too.

Failing that, I would be fairly confident that LG still has IR support regardless of the remote included. A quick scan through various manuals shows a bunch of options on the level of IR support to enable on sets with RF remotes (like off, power only, or full). Additionally, LG often publishes their IR codes in the backs of the full user manual.

Hisense Roku tv's respond to IR commands even if they come with wifi voice remote. they use very old Goldstar(LG) tv IR code set for tv power and volume. Most Hisense Roku tv's respond to TCL roku tv remote even though Tcl doesn't respond to hisense remote. The TCL roku tv code set was first used by Admiral back in the early 90's.

Roku wifi remotes will emit IR for roku's if you unplug the roku from the power. So you can use it to teach a learning universal remote the roku commands, plug the roku back in and roku remote is wifi again. But the roku's will accept both Wifi & IR commands all the time. As long as you have line of sight for the roku to the remote.

If the roku remote has microphone key its wifi, if it has crescent moon key for sleep timer instead it is differently IR remote.

Thanks for the above.
It's too bad these manufactures won't at least publish what type of remote they use or in this case could use. in clear text, not buried somewhere in some manual that on have to print out or scan thru.

How does Samsung fit in?

Oh, how about non Roku HiSense sets?

You know, there shouldn't be this hassle just to find out what should be basic information just like the absence of ATSC 3 compatibility which seems to be a secret with these TV manufactures.

Samsung, Sony, LG all support IR with no issues.
