Hisense Roku tv's respond to IR commands even if they come with wifi voice remote. they use very old Goldstar(LG) tv IR code set for tv power and volume. Most Hisense Roku tv's respond to TCL roku tv remote even though Tcl doesn't respond to hisense remote. The TCL roku tv code set was first used by Admiral back in the early 90's.
Roku wifi remotes will emit IR for roku's if you unplug the roku from the power. So you can use it to teach a learning universal remote the roku commands, plug the roku back in and roku remote is wifi again. But the roku's will accept both Wifi & IR commands all the time. As long as you have line of sight for the roku to the remote.
If the roku remote has microphone key its wifi, if it has crescent moon key for sleep timer instead it is differently IR remote.
