Hello,
I recently purchased a used MSC-400 with CCP. I have an MX-3000 remote.
Everything was going along smoothly until I tried to use universal browser to copy the triggers into the remote. MX-3000 editor Universal Browser does not recognize .ccp files! So what do I do? Do I have a chance by going to a dealer in getting the MSC-400 stand alone editor? In other words, would it be in the dealer's right to issue a stand alone editor in this case even though I didn't buy anything from him?
Secondly, I ASSUME (because ccp let me do it) that Tools/Convert to SmartMacro Group works for IR also. The documentation only talks about RS232 conversion to SmartMacro. Is it correct to assume that the hugely time saving tool to convert Connected Devices to Smart Macro will work for IR also?
Thanks.

It would be up to the dealer but if you didn't purchase from him, I don't know what his incentive would be to give it to you.

kg,
Thanks. I guess what I am asking is this: would it be ILLEGAL for the dealer to do it....or is it within his discretion? If I knew it was well within his discretion then I wouldn't feel like a cheese eater having to go up and ask him in the first place.

if you have a CCP remote, you could drag the triggers onto that remote, set up the remote for IR output, then teach the codes to the MX3000.

well that didn't work. the dealer said it would be illegal for him to do that and then he said I should hire a professional. are there any dealers here who can say for sure that it is illegal?

It's not illegal. Lawmakers are really not concerned with whether or not an end user gets software. Now whether against policy or not, the answer is no. Toy knowledge, the only software not a available to an end user by URC is Total Controls Accelerator software.
Now, because the dealer can provide it does not mean he has to. The policy is dumb in that it makes the dealer look bad, not URC. The support lies on the dealer, not URC. I know that I would not have the time to offer support to a client who is trying to program his own system. I don't think your dealer is a jerk for saying it is illegal, I think it's just the easiest way for him to be done with the conversation.
