The "beating the dead horse" part is that everyone has a story, and we don't own the software.

Call URC, they own the software and can hear you out. It's a good company and you can actually talk to someone U.S. based.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I'm willing to bet that they have already heard plenty.

Wow, that's excessive. I'm curious, where do you live that it's so far out there?

If you're talking to me, I live in MI. Not sure why you think I'm so far out there. I simply stated that the people at URC have probably heard all the complaints, stories etc.

I completely understand your perspective. In my business I also hear lots of stories. Many are the same story different people. Sometimes I hear a story that I think, "wow you kinda got screwed" and my picture changes a little depending on circumstance. It's obvious that I don't have a problem paying the tech to come out. I have paid him more than once but he's not fixing the problem and charging a ton. I have also reached out to 3 additional dealers to pay them but they say I'm outside their service area. Also, this is not a difficult system. I now only have a Samsung TV, Denon reciver, Oppo 205, Sonos and an Apple TV. I have 2 remotes and only 1 TV

As far as owning the software, URC states that you CAN share the software and I have spoken to them. Their response was the same as posted many times on this forum. "Ask your dealer for a copy". I'm seriously not trying to skirt the URC business model. I'm just trying to get it to work.

I live in rural Oregon. I've checked with several dealers in the Portland area for help but they just don't send their techs out that far.

I live rural also, if I was in your shoes I would just buy another remote from a dealer that gives out the software before paying $550 for a service call. I have bought from Surf Remote and was given the software. If you don't already have one, the MX-990 is very nice.

I have a new client and he has an old MX780 and a MRF260.
Do I tell him to trash these and go with the brand that does not greed more money from a potential client or can I get the software somewhere and thus restoring his satisfaction in URC?

What are you saying? Hard to follow.

If you are a dealer, use the software and update his remote, or get him something better like an 890 or 990.

This has to be a joke. A "integrator" that can't get software thus jumping on the F URC bandwagon? How is your RTI, C4, Savant, Elan, Crestron.... Business doing? Those softwares are all available to anyone, right? Oh, you only do Harmony and other diy products. Your client should look elsewhere for a "integrator" rather then another product.

he has his own website.  chances are he can get URC from a distributor, which in turn can provide him with the necessary info to get signed up in the URC Controlroom to download the appropriate software.

If he can't figure that out, then I agree: Time for his client to find someone that knows what he is doing.

I have a ccp install software from 2012. Today, I uninstalled it from my windows 7 computer and re-installed it. Now I am getting run time errors. Any suggestions please? Is there a newer version of the ccp install software that someone can send me a link to? Or maybe dropbox it?
thanks

If you're an authorized URC dealer, you can download the software from urcportal.com.

He also posted over at avs forum. He said he ran it as administrator and everything worked out good.
