It IS dependent on our knowledge and expertise of the product. I couldn't give a crap about who has the software. I have seen many DIY's "3 year old" programs though. My favorites are from the engineers that have a program so bloated with actions and they're always the only person in the house that can actually use it!!

I love how you just added a "few" of your certs.

The old saying is so true.... How do you know the engineer in the room? They'll make sure to tell you.

Hey look, another unhelpful post from one of the resident "Pros" with a college degree in CI.

Hey Azag, unfortunately URC's business model and policies protect the income of authorized dealers who make the investment in training time and product to buy into the URC Total Control franchise. They do this so that salesmen can make a living with their product and also so that it's designed, installed and programmed correctly. Nothing will give a control system and bad reputation faster that one that's done poorly especially when the avenues for support and closed off to end users who do want to brew their own and then they get on public forums like this one, AVS Forums or other to talk about their own bad experience.

Coming here to beg for software and then slag on those who can't give it to you (EULAs still apply) never works; you just happened to get cornered by two forum members that have plenty of spare time to police the internet and attack you over your request. Getting in a pissing match with those guys achieves nothing and merely strokes their egos.

Where are you located? I can probably put you in touch with a TC dealer and get your request resolved.

Don't make me laugh Lowz. I've been a registered member of URC. I am well aware that it only takes a purchase of $1500 to register as a dealer. Your so called training is a handful of videos on URC's website.

Beg is a pretty strong word. I asked, they protested and I am standing my ground. I have met my share of URC dealers who give the company a bad reputation. I enjoy the product and I have been successful programming and using it myself for more than four years.

Thank you for the offer but I already located what I sought.

I know this is an old thread recently revived. A Google search for the software led me here.

I am not looking to add to this argument. I bought the remote at the same time I had Audio Advice (Charlotte) install a TV, TIVO, audio/video receiver, and Sonos in my new home three years ago. I have the invoices to show that I paid full retail for the MX-780 and am happy share them.

I recently added an Amazon Fire TV and want to add the ability to switch the receiver to auxiliary input. I am retired now, but had a long career in IT, so pretty sure I can figure out how to do that.

I can't get the software from Audio Advice. Any of the other dealers on here willing to give me the software? Please PM me. Thanks.

My brother recently purchased a home with a built in home theater. The setup includes a MX-990 and there are also a couple of MX-980s and MX-950s elsewhere in the house. The prior owner did leave the contact information for the dealer that installed the setup and we will be having them update the configuration to accommodate some new equipment. However, we would also like to be able to make minor changes in the future. I would like to know exactly what we need to ask for when the installer stops by.

1. Is the CCP package able to program all three of these remotes?
2. I've seen people mention the Expansion Pack. Is this something that CCP will be able to download or do I need to ask for that separately?
3. Is there anything else I need to ask for in terms of having all the necessary software?

Thanks.

1.  it will do the 980 and 990, but not the 950.  the 950 has a stand alone editor.
2.  you need to ask for that separately.
3.  nope.

I purchased the URC X-7 (MX-780) from BestBuy in 2014. They refused to give me the software. Now one of the buttons has broken, and I need a new remote.

Is it possible to download my build file from my old X-7 remote to CCP and then upload it to a new MX-780? Or would a new technician have to recreate the whole file from scratch?

(I have an intricate setup with 3 SmartTVs, 3 boxes, multiple Roku, Fire stick, game systems, etc.) Thank you!

If you have CCP, you should have no issues uploading the file and then downloading to a new 780. Assuming there are no other issues with your remote of course, but I've only ever had an issue communicating with one MX780 and that was right out of the box.
