It would appear that the iPhone and iPod Touch universal remote market is starting to heat up. The first announcement comes from L5 Technology, who has developed a small add-on piece of hardware and an App compatible with all iPhone and iPod Touch models, which turns the devices into a full featured universal remote control. RTI doesn’t normally exhibit at CES. I’m not even sure it’s happened in the past. However RTI’s press agency recently sent out a bit of a teaser email, claiming that the company will be exhibiting. And cross-referencing that with the official CES 2010 exhibitor list has revealed that they will indeed be there, but not under the usual Remote Technologies Inc. name. Read more...

The first official remote control-related press release from CES 2010 comes from Amulet Devices, an Irish company that you might remember from last year's CES coverage when the company announced their first product, a voice-enabled remote that allowed users to talk to their computers. This year the company has come up with a new version, dubbed the Windows 7 Amulet Voice Remote, with an all-new design. Read more...

Philips has just released a major update for their Pronto family of remote controls. The major changes include a resesigned user interface, iPhone-style gestures, UPnP/DLNA support, rotary wheel enhancements, UDP communications and much more. Read more...

CEDIA 2009: it was the straw the broke the camel’s back. Our longest video yet necessitated a total revamping of our video delivery system – which means more quality at smaller sizes! All 15 of our video reports are now available in MPEG-4 format, and 10 of them are in high definition. Read more...

Over the past few years, the specialty remote control market has had a number of notable attempts to come up with the perfect “simple” remote. Entrepreneur Dan Pitkow discovered unexpected interest in the remote he had designed for his father, who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease, and founded Flipper LLC to market his creation. Read more...

I've just finished upgrading our News RSS feed to support formatting and (gasp) line breaks, assuming your reader supports those. Not that these news teasers use too much of that sort of thing in the first place, but it should make things just a little bit nicer.

Along the same line, the Forum RSS feeds have had several corrections applied, as their HTML support was just plain wrong. Both feeds now look better and validate perfectly!
