More mis-direction. The Pavlovian urge to blame government and an opposing ideology is what's driving the willful ignorance and efforts to flip the narrative. The removal of regulation allowed a hypercommoditization of debt, a pyramid scheme of securities based debt, until it all came crashing down. This is what educated people know and what motivated ideologues reject.

Quit blaming 'the media' and regurgitating narratives from the American Enterprise Institute and other 'think tanks' that should be called 'tell you what to think tanks.'

Make up your mind. You call the urge to blame the government 'Pavlovian' and then, everything after blames the government. Who deregulated this? Government. Who backed FNMA/FDMA? Government. Where was Barney Frank employed? Government. I never said anything about one party or another- it was both. You don't think members of government (like Hillary and others) are being well paid by financial institutions? You can't blame one without the other.

Speaking of bonuses, Sports Authority is closing and has sold off most of its inventory and store fixtures. They just decided to hand out bonuses to top management.

It is amazing that "they" can give themselves a raise and "we" can't do a damn thing about it.

Also amazing that someone making 174k can become a millionaire within a very short time span and we can't become anything but poorer in a very short time span.

Think this is by design?

Please don't point out the hypocrisy of the Democratic nominee, we don't want to have to listen to more Demagoguery from Big Papa!

Not sure Mac is smart enough to know what that is to worry about him using that, I'm sure he will google it as soon as he reads this ;)
Bill's Electric & Home Theater & Plumbing & Automation & Small Engine Repair, and Animal Removal Services......did I mention we do remotes also?

I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

It's like you don't read what I quoted or linked. Strange. 'Everything after blames government' is a weird thing to say as all kinds of things happened and all kinds of people and entities contributed to the giant cluster. I'm sure you're not one to incessantly preach about personal responsibility like many conservatives, but if one is going to preach it one should also preach laying blame where due and not laying blame where not due. You know, like facts and objectivity and sheeit.

What's funny is the party of personal responsibility keeps trying to lay the Great Recession on poor people, government, and liberals. A free pass is given to corporate America and the real power brokers, those who lobby much lower paid government servants to change laws that benefit them. When one points out that it's a facile argument based in ideology then it changes tangent to 'they both suck' or 'fire them all.' The narrative gets Both Sides'd. How does it feel to be played for a sucker?

I just watched part one of that PBS documentary, admittedly with one eye while working, but it was quite good and informative so far.

I knew a nice guy several years ago that was drawing three separate pensions. One from the military, one from the railroad, and one from the post office.

His plan was to then work a public job so he could get social security.

Pretty wild that it was even possible.

I win the lottery, I'll take the SS check and sign it over to the Salvation Army, Industries for the Blind, or something along that line.

And then I'm leaving the country.

I was once again sold a defective lottery ticket. I'm starting to get really fed up with that.

You need to go back and read my posts- I don't believe all government is bad, nor is all business but I have commented about businesses that have done terrible things in the name of greed. Your blinders must have prevented your seeing those posts.

I'm pretty sure it was meant more as a joke than a serious comment. Although, I've always found it fascinating that people in other countries follow our politics.

I was going to stay out of this thread ( so I may regret writing this comment upon reflection) but I think you miss how important the US is to the world, both in terms of its economic might, its military might, including treaty obligations, and its role as symbol for freedom and liberty but also its role as arbiter of disputes. The US is the great power remaining. It may not be that way forever.

Of course, the world follows US politics. If the US withdraws from the world, violates its treaties, introduces a police state to jail and deport people I'd say it presages a new political reality for the world. Whether the divisions in the US are evidence of a gathering storm we shall see. But US foreign and domestic policies certainly have consequences for the world and the world understands this. The US is the biggest market in the world. The US is the single most important actor on the world stage.

Republicans or Democrats, it doesn't matter, as both are as corrupt as the other!!

Nah, I think the republicans are much, much worse. A pack of neanderthals.

What I don't get is why you liberal pukes will rail against Bush and Republicans, while continuing to support, advocate Obama and Clinton who are equally as bad if not worse.

Did Obama attack an innocent country, nearly bankrupting the US? Did he kill and maim --- for OIL?

Look at the steaming pile he was handed, the opposition (total opposition) he has faced from the rethuglican cave men & look at what he has accomplished.

Papa, Mac, Stanley, your just a bunch of hypocrites too!

I suppose you are a Trump supporter?
