Wow, this is wonderful, the exlink.gif file. Helps a lot. I still cant get over why Samsung does not offer this info from their support line.

Many thanks!!!!

Thanks for the .gif-file. Exactly what I was looking for :) Just one question though, does anyone know wich models theese commands will work for? I have a PS42Q97HD (european version of HP-T4264), will it work for this model? Oh, and does anyone if this will work through Girders serial plugin? Thanks again :)

These are the models i installed. They all work with the information from the .gif file linked to above.

fp-t6374
fp-t5884
fp-t5084

FYI...

I was only able to get the commands to work while the TV was powered ON.

This means that once you send OFF to the TV you cant get it back on unless you use IR or your finger :).

If anyone has figured out how to "wake up" the sammys with serial commands please let me know.

Follow Up......

Finally made it back out to the LA where the samsungs were installed. All had energy saving turned off. I gave RS-232 another shot and had the same results with the ON command not working.

Updated link to the Ex-Link file is : [Link: wiremunky.com]

thanks for the info follow up, man that really sucks. i have to admit, i wouldnt mind using some of the 6,7,8000 series panels, but i absolutely will not support this CI unfriendly product. especially after learning they have attached power cords, i just think that is ridiculous. it is a step backwards for them. i just used several 22" and 32" panels for kitchens and beds and they all detachable power cords, but the new high end large panels dont!
I love supporting product that supports me!

Hi... stumbled on this note. I have a Samsung motorized tv mount that has an Ex-Link connection, but don't have a Samsung TV. Do you know if there is any way to control (set the 3 programmed stops and select them) with some kind of remote other than a Samsung Remote/TV? Just experimenting around with this thing that I don't know anything about. Do understand some electronics (I studied and got an extra-class Ham Radio license) and like to tinker a little. Thanks, Phil

Did it come with a manual? Check inside for more information. Whats the model number? I haven't seen one in person. Gotta be some way to control it.

The model is wmn-5090. When I give it power and press the setup button (only button on it) it moves out and swings back and forth left and right. I understand it's programing itself to know when it hits the wall for both left and right swings. There is a connector socket with a ex-link label on it. I assume that would be for a cable coming from a Samsung TV and the mount could be controlled via the TV remote control. What signal it's getting from the TV (left, right,up,down, each of 3 programmed positions) I don't know. Thanks for your interest, Phil

Sounds like you need a serial command that originates from the Samsung TV. I wont say its impossible but i will wager it will be very difficult to come across the information unless you can get a hold of one of the tech's in asia that designed it. Contacting Samsung will be a huge waste of time. Most there dont even know what Ex-Link is.

I would assume you can open it up and figure out a way to trigger movement with 3rd party closure products but it might be easier to just buy a samsung TV and move the existing one to another room.

I think I was mistaken. I went back to the Samsung Mount and the connection it has instead of saying EX-Link actually says EX-Line. Everybody seemed to be talking about Ex-Link so I assumed I misread it and I went back and it actually does say EX-Line. I don't know if they're the same thing but I get no results when I search for it. I found someone who had the binary codes for up, down, left, right and memory positions but I have no idea what this connector is expecting in signals over this line. I might have to give up on this project. Thanks for your help.

Hi... I also have a Samsung WNM-5090 but no Samsung monitor. Can you explain what a win32-proggie is and maybe the cable needed to plug into the Samsung mount? your help would be very much appreciated, Phil

win32 proggie sounds like web lingo for Windows 32 bit Program. Where did you get this information? I am not sure what your asking here.

The cable used for the Ex-link jack is a 1/8" to DB9 serial cable. The diagram for it is here [Link: wiremunky.com]

I took the cover off where the connector wires went and it's basically got wires coming into it from the power and ex-line connector and the setup button. Going out are the wires going to the three motors (left/right,tilt up/tilt down, and extend out/extend in). There is also a blank connector of 6 pins (2 rows of 3) that I assume this is a service connection that engineers/repairmen can test the unit without hooking it up with a Samsung TV. There's probably nobody outside of Korea that could tell me what signals these pins need to control the unit. But if anybody reads this and knows more that I do, any help would be appreciated. If I could get buttons hooked up that would program the memory locations, select the one I want to use and return it to home position that would be all I would need. I don't think I will ever be able to operate it with any kind of remote. Thanks for listening, Phil
