There are a few other benefits. You can set the volume level. That allows you to show feedback as a function of the level your code sets. It will track since you've set the level on turn on. You cannot do this with IR. It is a rather simple protocol, check sum or not.

I realize that I am VERY late to the party. Has anyone actually fabricated a device that can control the Samsung 5090 motorized mount WITHOUT the TV?
