Strengths:Looks nice, simple to use.
Weaknesses:Crashes (locks up in continuous IR emitting mode).
Review:The thing keeps crashing. That makes it totally unuable. I spent about 12 hours trying to have it learn various codes. It has no problems learning, but when it comes to emit the codes, some codes cause it to lock up. It is especially disastrous when this turns out to be the volume "up" control. This is not an individual unit defect. The store readily exchanged it for another unit, and that unit has the same category of problem. This second unit showed lockup on 1-9 "soft keypad" keys, not on volume control, but this hardly makes it acceptable. If I cannot have it learn and use the needed codes, it is of absolutely no use.

Strengths:Seems to do everything claimed for it.
Weaknesses:Poor legibility even with backlight on for anyone with less than perfect vision. Fingermarks all too obvious on screen. Can only get away with one-handed use with the hard buttons; others require two hands (and a pair of glasses). But the manual, whilst not ideal, doesn't seem nearly so bad as other reviewers suggest.
Review:I can't really find anything substantial to fault with this unit, but I still find myself reaching for the original remotes now and then, simply because of the size/one-handed usage factor.
It operates everything I have, including my Sony TiVo (having learned its functions in a few minutes).
It serves its purpose excellently 95% of the time, but there is plenty of room for small improvements, not least in the numbers of buttons that can be custom labeled and the clarity of the type on the screen.
Am I pleased I bought it? Well, I wish there was something better for the price, but I haven't seen it. So it will do for now.

Strengths:Comprehensive functionality and pleasing design.
Weaknesses:Manual is hard to undestand. I found the screen hard to read (they could have spend a little more on product cost for a Palm like screen.)
Review:I bought the Sony RM-AV3000 for my home theater. My audio goes through a VK amplifer - which is not a pre-programmed code. I used the learn feature for volume up and down. Up worked fine. Whenever I pressed volume down it got stuck in transmittal and I had to take the batteries out to fix. I re-learned it, only to have the same result.

Based on previous reviewer comments about the futility of customer support, I am taking it back to Best Buy.

Strengths:Nice Design good concept
Weaknesses:Poor product support will not work with some of Sony's newer devices Could not get it to work with Sony DAV-C770 home theater system people at sony spoke poor English (it was like reading the operating instructions) I told them what I wanted to do several times and finally after call # 4 was told that it could not replace the original remote and that I should use the two in conjunction. HELLO why did they think I spent 179 dollars for a universal remote?
Review:I found the product fine for older devices but it would not and could not learn how to operate Sony's newer products. I am returning it and will now try the ProntoNEO.

Strengths:-Believe it or not, it's large size!
-Good combination of touch screen and physical tactile feedback buttons
-Reasonable cost
-Nice styling
Weaknesses:-OK, it's a 15 yard penalty for piling-on, but I have to say the manual is really not up to the standard that Sony should be providing. It must have been originally written in Japanese and translated such that the exact combination of words just doesn't read correctly. Like points out in their example of the timer language, it's like trying to read legalese. It really does need work to be more instructional than frustrating.
-Labels. It has the potential to be the "remote that does it all" if it eventually gains the ability to have each touchscreen label be customized for text. Also it would be nice to be able to eliminate any unused labels. Cleaning up the clutter for any component that doesn't use all of the touch keys.
-No PC connection for downloads/backup
-Touchscreen is too glossy. Glare makes the screen hard to read sometimes.
Review:This is a great remote. I like the size because it gives room for decent sized touch keys and is difficult to lose in the sofa or chair. It has a nice little rounded groove underneath to make it sit on your leg with some stability while doing some channel surfing. It feels very well constructed and has a nice physical layout. It could use a "semi-gloss" finish on the touchscreen to make it easier to read. Touchscreen can be a bit touchy and it seems that whenever I pick it up I have a tendency to hit the 'power on' touch screen key, but hey, life's not perfect. It would be nice to have a programmable delay in the key response time so that inadvertent touching of the screen doesn't shut down the TV, VCR, cable box, and room lights by accidentally touching a macro for a millisecond.

Once I decrypted some of the manual, and read the review on, I found it to be very easy to program. Within 2 days I had 6 remotes in the end table drawer and using the AV3000. Best of all it has a high spousal acceptance factor! 5 minutes of instruction on she was hooked. Bought it for $114 from NO SHIPPING! Had it in 2 days. Don't think you can go wrong here. Might not be the ultimate remote yet, but it doesn't seem to me it has far to go to be the dominant device at a reasonable ($500 to $1000- NOT!!!) price.

Strengths:My wife liked it because she could flick the bean whilst fast forwarding through Thomas the Tank Engine.
Weaknesses:Didn't vibrate or wash up.
Review:Not bad if your pet dog refuses to drink from the fury cup.

Strengths:capabilities. great looks. awesome features
Weaknesses:inaccurate manual.
Review:The remote is awesome for what it is designed for. Now thanks to you guys because the manual was wrong about resetting program system 1 and 3 for non Sony devices, it is the coolest thing I have for my HT set! The wife really likes to push one button and the TV, AMP, DVD, all turn on as the lights slowly dim to "cinema" mode! I feel like I'm in one of those expensive home theaters because of abliities of this remote. When the movie is done hit another button and everything turns on as the lights come on to a respectable level so we can "exit" out of the media room. One minute later, the lights turn off permanently for the evening. Now for $105, is that cool or what?
