Review: | This is a great remote. I like the size because it gives room for decent sized touch keys and is difficult to lose in the sofa or chair. It has a nice little rounded groove underneath to make it sit on your leg with some stability while doing some channel surfing. It feels very well constructed and has a nice physical layout. It could use a "semi-gloss" finish on the touchscreen to make it easier to read. Touchscreen can be a bit touchy and it seems that whenever I pick it up I have a tendency to hit the 'power on' touch screen key, but hey, life's not perfect. It would be nice to have a programmable delay in the key response time so that inadvertent touching of the screen doesn't shut down the TV, VCR, cable box, and room lights by accidentally touching a macro for a millisecond.
Once I decrypted some of the manual, and read the review on remotecentral.com, I found it to be very easy to program. Within 2 days I had 6 remotes in the end table drawer and using the AV3000. Best of all it has a high spousal acceptance factor! 5 minutes of instruction on she was hooked. Bought it for $114 from www.aaxes.com. NO SHIPPING! Had it in 2 days. Don't think you can go wrong here. Might not be the ultimate remote yet, but it doesn't seem to me it has far to go to be the dominant device at a reasonable ($500 to $1000- NOT!!!) price. |
