hello,

is there any better way to get a paid version of RTI? i don't want to deal with local dealer they are not good, i want to buy it for myself i want to manage the Kx4 and update the firmware and UI at less! any good idea better than remove the system and buy another one it's my mistake to buy the RTI one.

Please advise.

You have to get a business license, which is usually pretty cheap depending on where you live. Then take the RTI training certification course. Get setup with RTI as a dealer. Then you can get all the hardware and software you want.

Unfortunately in this day and age of "Anti-Right to Repair" and "You Own Nothing" culture, any other control system you want to go to is going to be the exact same thing. Even worse, because a lot of the other ones will cut you off as a dealer if you don't do so much $$$ with them each quarter/yearly.

Good luck.

But there isn't!
Have you actually looked at the market? There are less than a dozen control companies out there these days. And almost all of them are dealer only. It is really a bad time to be a consumer looking for these types of things.

Sofabaton was very anticipated with the new offerings they were coming out with a few years ago. But it's turned out to be junk so far. People are still hoping they will do better in the coming years.

People have been waiting many years now for the 'Remote Two' or whatever Unfolded Circle is calling it currently. It looks to be the new Pronto remote for the future and the anticipation for it is very high. But will it actually ever come to market and will it actually be good and not glitchy as hell.... who knows. Time will tell and it's taking a long time.

One-For-All is a great universal remote (database wise) but they only make dumb remotes. No automation to speak of and limited to IR only.

Harmony died years ago.

CAAVO went to nursing homes (kind of a joke).

Then there are the dealer systems = C4, Crestron, Savant, URC, RTI, ELAN, and a few others.

Anything else (that I'm aware of) is just science projects and not worthy of even being called working systems.

You had the Neeo remote.

It looked slick. Felt slick. But the software was awful, when compared to a proper universal remote imho.

The forums were full of the thousands of people who bought on Kickstarter complaining they can’t do x why can’t they do y, especially when the Kickstarter promised x and y.

Then they got bought by c4, and all those thousands of people were hung out to dry with very cool looking paperweights.

If there was a viable way to market for direct to consumer home automation with an easy to program remote, that looked and felt good, neeo wouldn’t have taken the easy route out and screwed over everyone who made them able to build that remote. Logitech, a company that makes billions wouldn’t have dropped their harmony line. Or Philips a gargantuan company that pulls in tens of billions wouldn’t have dropped their pronto line.
The Future's Bright, The Future's Controllable.

i respect your opinion, but its depends what i am looking for, i want a simple control light doors, AC , Heaters that can be controlled in easier way than RTI and the others dealers companies, there is always another option, about the quilty sure they are good i am using one already but i am looking for an open system not the one i cant even change the sytle for the screen or change the names for anythings its sucks! its fine to locked the systems just give some breathing room so people can change style or change names for the options they want it off/ on.

but at the end there is a good option!

OK, I thought we were talking about complete systems that had hardware interfaces as well.
If you are looking for just home automation only and running an interface on a phone or tablet, then there are a few options. They are still a bit science project like. But they do work.

Home Assistant
Loxone
Hubitat
Seems I'm not remembering some.

Josef, you keep mentioning lots of 'good' options out there. But you are not naming a single one. If you actually know of some good ones, by all means post it. Because me a lot of other integrators on this forum have never seen them. Maybe we can debate about what you consider good options.

yes exactly, i have electric panel for rti and Kx4 so both hardware control all home like main slide door for car enterance for an example, the main issues here its locked so no way to manage it by yourself,

i respect the rules i dont want to mentioned any name but while you request it i will do for sure!

OpenHAB - Integrates with over 1500 devices
Domoticz - Great for Linux users
Home Assistant - Powerful privacy tools
Calaos - With mobile apps
OpenMotics - Integrates with Google apps
HomeGenie - Helpful customization tools
PiDome - Advanced rules editor

those one of the best options they are really good, and you can replace what you have with the one we already using.

any good advice i am listening and sure following your advice.

Again thanks a lot your kind reply is much appreciated.

Ah, OpenHAB was the other one I couldn't remember.

I'm guessing you are not in the US. Have never heard of a lot of those and I see most are based in Europe.
If you are in Europe, you should give Loxone a look. It only recently came to the US a few years ago but has been in Europe for awhile. They offer an upscale system.

A note on open source and customizable GUI = Most professional systems are not going to be open source and they are going to be more limited in the customization. What they do offer is 24/7 reliability and solid performance.

Most open source and fully customizable GUI systems are usually more flaky. They are more DIY and require more attention to keep them up and running. This is great for people who like to play with things. Not great for people who just want an automation system installed and not have to think about it (not something a professional would offer a customer).

There is also TouchControl. It’s iPad/iPhone/PC only. It’s definitely DIY, but the limit is your imagination. You have full control of the screen. You can use traditional command buttons, one per command, or a “button” could be a web page that you’ve built. If a device, such as ROKU or MusicCast offers a reasonable (documented) API, you can integrate that with your program. Or, you can simply call the native App.

Take out the KX4, put in an iPad with an in-wall dock, then run whatever control software you want.
