You had the Neeo remote.

It looked slick. Felt slick. But the software was awful, when compared to a proper universal remote imho.

The forums were full of the thousands of people who bought on Kickstarter complaining they can’t do x why can’t they do y, especially when the Kickstarter promised x and y.

Then they got bought by c4, and all those thousands of people were hung out to dry with very cool looking paperweights.

If there was a viable way to market for direct to consumer home automation with an easy to program remote, that looked and felt good, neeo wouldn’t have taken the easy route out and screwed over everyone who made them able to build that remote. Logitech, a company that makes billions wouldn’t have dropped their harmony line. Or Philips a gargantuan company that pulls in tens of billions wouldn’t have dropped their pronto line.
