To my knowledge they never left the CN tower(?), but the RF 40, 41, 44, and 47 signals will be gone by the end of next week (July 3 at the latest).

HA!

I can watch WBBZ and its subs again, if I move to the "den" and use the workstation and the HDHomerun tuners via classic Windows Media Player with the AC3 utility [to boost audio and available at Majorgeeks.com or where ever you load your add-ons from] just to boost the bass and tweek the volume a little. Contrast that to the old legacy MyHD MDP-130 tuner in the main room which can't pull in the signal off the antennae. Just goes to show what newer generations of tuner chips can do. Though there is still some occasional video breakup/pixelation, but that's probably due to WBBZ's low transmitter height. I missed the Three Stooges Marathon this weekend though :-( .

Hello there. I,m about 6 km east of Brantford and 17,s signal is a lot weaker after they moved from 43 to 31. I emailed channel 17 and one of there engineers emailed me and said CITY also on 31 in Woodstock was interfering with there signal from Buffalo. They are not telling me the truth. I updated my antenna with a channel master 2020 and upgraded my coax. Now I receive it about 90% of the time. At this moment in time I am receiving the signal at 80 on my signal strength meter. I do not think the people I was communicating with were not familiar with receiving TV over the air. Hope this answers some of your questions.
50 ' tower with VHF & UHF antenna at the house
45 ' tower with a 91XG yagi with a channel master preamp at the workshop/garage and a Samsung digital receiver.

The top of canal lake, 2020 Sept 1 morning we received channel 56.1-4 PBS from Detroit- perfect reception. This is not an assigned channel on our
TV nor did we scan for it. How is this possible ?

I rarely do it, but I'm duplicating a post, let the moderators do what they must.

When did CKVP-DT go to RF 29, on what date? I've been physically ill [not COVID] for over a month and having trouble mapping my PVR's properly.
Schedules Direct is filling the EPG correctly, however....

It doesn't help that for over 12 hours there's been no signal on RF42 or RF29 for the PVR s/w to lock on to. As a result, I've missed the first episode of the new season of W5 [can't get, could never get CFTO since those bastards went digital and cut output power]

Sept 30:
The HDHomerun tuner is picking it up now, but not the MDP-130 in the main box, the HDHR being the networked tuner, for computer use. So one work-around is to record W5 and Question Period on the computer for playback with Pot Player. However, if they had set up their Fonthill transmitter correctly, like it was on RF42, the old MyHD MDP-130 should still be able to receive them on RF29.

CFTO isn't on air? Can't get it since August up to now on three different receivers (Mississauga). Listed as ON at RabbitEars.
CHCJ and CKVP are non existent in passed years no matter what. Was getting weak CHCJ before.

No problem with CFTO virtual channel 9 on rf channel 8, a VHF frequency in Richmond Hill. If you are using an outdoor antenna and pre-amp, the pre-amp has to pass VHF signals. Possible issues, the VHF part has gone defective or hi-rise condo is blocking you. Suggest try just a piece of wire for antenna and see if CFTO comes in.

I am losing channels here from the south, new condos blocking the path :-(

I've tried everything: three different antennas at three different locations - nothing! Was almost hundred percent sure it's OFF as signal indicators gave me nothing. Weird type of high signal overload might be a thing worth checking. Appreciate your clarification, Nueatit.

P.S.: Get well soon, Bruce H.

Piece of wire gave me no lock indication on older Hauppauge PC tuner. Same as other antennas with this device. I use an external signal monitor that shows signal presence even if soft can't tune in for some reason - nothing. Previously auto scanned on two newer TV's build in tuners. Nothing but wire as antenna with one of them.
Hauppauge gave me solid numbers on CBLT with a tiny piece of wire in a basement ;) Very puzzled what could be wrong...Ideas, anyone?

"Can't get it since August ... "

CFTO did have a technical problem about a week ago (first week of October) but it's fine now and was fine in September.

Sorry, DJG, no ideas on your problem. CFTO signal is fine in Etobicoke. The one thing is different is that CFTO is the only major station in the Toronto/Hamilton/Buffalo area on VHF (180 to 186 MHz for RF 8). Everything else is on UHF (470 to 608 MHz, RF 14 to 36). May be a useful clue?!

Glad you got it solved, my guess is still a signal change that the older receivers could not handle. Everything from reflection interference to signal overload. Basement test would reduce overload and reflection issues. A family member at Steeles and Hwy 400 just uses a four bay in front ground window and no preamp, receives most channels, even Buffalo, outside antenna 20 feet above ground with amp not much better, weird but that's rf with reflections and ground waves.

Nueatit: you misunderstood - I DIDN'T get RF 8 with a Hauppauge released late 2019 ;) That makes two PC and two TV tuners, two antennas and one wire, three locations without CFTO.

DJG, not much help to you, but I have had no problems getting CTV RF8.

Nothing new blocking line-of-sight to the CN Tower?

Other CN Tower stations okay? If so, the fact that it's VHF is the only difference from other CN Tower stations. I like Nueatit's suggestion that a pre-amp, if you have one, might be defective in the VHF band. If you plug an antenna directly into a tuner without a pre-amp, you should be able to get a fair signal in Mississauga, so you'll know if it's the pre-amp or not.

jm1: I've tried two antennas and just an electrical wire. Every Toronto station is around 100% with an antenna and can be watchable with just wire as an antenna. CFTO was very strong on RF 9, then I left terrestrial, came back this Summer to never see RF 8.
Thing that I don't understand at all - signal presence undetected in general. There's just no lock like it's CFTO's weird setup. Have tried LG, Samsung (TV's at different locations with build in tuner), two PC tuners. Conclusion: witchcraft ;)
Thank you.
